selected AC-DC a mp3... it played 5 notes then silent. play box is still moving across time bar though. Other MP3's play 2-3 seconds then no more audio.

thanks Mike

Please ensure you've got Wine 1.3.24. Later versions are unstable according to Doh123

Also ensure you have the MAD plugin installed into MM as well.

The problem is definitely related to the Apple extensions, I put an m4a file into my system and reproduced your error but in my case my mp3 files work fine. Your screenshot doesn't actually say which track that it's failing to play. Select a single mp3 file and right-click and select Play.

Having read the description at http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/brows ... r-plug-in/ it tends to confirm this view.

As a trial I suggest that you install this plugin and attempt again. Please let me know how you get on.

No. Please install with WS7Wine1.3.24 and not WS7Wine1.3.28

OK WORKING music playing GREAT thanks so much! NEAT. few things.

1. how do I delete a post I posted here? I tried Edit but did not see a delete option?

2. I have a few tracks maybe 20 that say Track 12, track 13 and they are real songs, so would like then tagged. I tried the Tools: Auto Tag from Web but it found nothing. I had program on Mac for free but it helped tag like 100 is all.

3. Any of you use lyrics somehow in your MM???

4. Mark or anyone, should I try to run or install some skin to make my MM look neater or something I saw you mentioned and created ????

5. What other tips/ tricks you MM users recommend to make my usage of MM better. Should I created song lists? here in MM or itunes? I did install that itues plugin extenison 4.0.3.1869

thanks so much look forward to fun with MM.

Mike

So glad that we got you there in the end! I suggest that you compress your MM4.app folder so that you have a backup.

There is an "x" next to the edit button.

You should now use the other parts of this forum to answer your other questions. HOWEVER be aware that not all additions to MM are guaranteed to work as the Wine emulation is not perfect. You will need to install the skinned version of MM for a prettier look but you'll find that slower in operation. Search for "Lyricator" for lyriics.

The d_itunes4.dll plugin is still incomplete so your feeds to iTunes will have to wait a while. EDIT: New version posted today.

I have slightly revised the build instructions in line with the new Wineskin 8 release

* Obtain Wineskin's Winery from http://wineskin.doh123.com/tiki-index.p ... =Downloads and Install (The Winery is the central location from which all the bits of program are downloaded and updated) This document is written for Wineskin-2.5.1
* Run Winery and update the Wineskin Wrapper (this will download). This can create your new MacMM4.app folder with the embedded Wine bits.
* Add a new Wine Engine for version WS8Wine-1.3.24 (this will download). This is a precompiled Wine build for Mac. Do NOT use later versions.
* Click "Create New Blank Wrapper" and name it MacMM4. This can take quite some time. Do not download the Gecko installation when prompted; click cancel.
* Note that your new MacMM4.app will be at /Users/dad/Applications/Wineskin/MacMM4. Click "Open folder in Finder" after creation.
* Doubleclick click the MacMM4 app to open Wineskin and Click "Advanced"
* Click "Tools" and then "Winetricks"
* Select Custom and insert "ie6 corefonts vcrun6 vb6run" in the arguments section.
* Click "Run" and install each of the components. Some components will have to be downloaded the first time, please be patient. Click "Done" when finished,
* Double click the MM4 app and Click "Install windows software"
* Navigate to your MM4 installation exe file.
* Follow the normal MM installation. Habitually I don't run in skinned mode, I find that it runs faster. Deselect "Run MediaMonkey now" at the end.
* Choose the "MediaMonkey (non skinned).exe" off the provided list (this can take quite some time to appear).
* Quit
* Double click the MacMM4.app folder to launch MM4 for the first time. This can take quite a while to run the first time.
* Use Tools->Extensions. Click "Add" and browse to the MAD plugin (inmad.mmip) which can be downloaded from http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/brows ... ut-plugin/ . This MUST be installed as an administrator. Close and then restart MM.

* If further configuration is needed and you need to get to Wineskin then right click the MacMM4 icon in finder and select Show Package Contents. Click "Wineskin" to launch.
* If you wish MM to be able to see network shares that are mounted on your Mac launch Wineskin and select Advanced -> Tools -> Configure Utility. Use the Drives tab to map a drive letter to the folder path on the Mac.
* You can set an icon for MacMM4 by launching Wineskin and select Advanced -> ToConfiguration -> Icon Browse. Here is a suitable file http://www.mediafire.com/file/ma87qembl ... -logo.icns

Can the above Wineskin setup also allow for syncing with an iPod Classic?

No. A fundamental weakness of this approach is that Wine (which underpins Wineskin) cannot access USB devices.

Sorry but there is nothing that I can do about this
