oh, and using mm for music and itunes for podcasts (with music: don't sync / manually manage music) all works fine!

awesomeness!

I think i may hit an issue when i sync MM as it will try removing the podcasts but a quick resync with itunes is easy enough to get those sorted.

Jiri - One thing I'm noticing with both the current and previous iPhone.dll is that if I uncheck playlists that were previously synced to the phone and Auto sync, nothing is deleted. I can, however, manually delete songs/playlists.

Not sure if others are experiencing this type of behavior.
Thanks

Thanks very much for your work on this. The latest DLL file works and I'm transferring files with album art no problem! Only thing is, when I attach my iPhone, 2 instances of it appear in the tree, both being identical!

Thanks

Well, I've resynced my phone and there has been some improvement in regards to the space Artwork is taking up, but it is still over 1.7 GB (for 2485 mp3s). Is this normal. I do not believe my artwork is any bigger than normal or anything.

Please see attached screen shot of iPhone contents: http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/6124 ... creen2.jpg

Can anyone explain what might be happening?
Thanks

i don't know how iPhone handles the artwork but one theory that may 'work' is that it stores the artwork on a per song basis and converts to uncompressed bitmap. that would mean an image of about 650kb multiplied by 2485 giving a total of 1.7gb...

this is completely made up by me, but it might be the case!

The latest version of the plug-in (from yesterday, don't forget to update) creates one image per album. Based on image size (e.g. 640x640x2 bytes for 3105 image file) it's a little above 1000 albums in your case. Is it possible? Maybe you could try to delete these files (in Artwork folder) and synchronize everything again, just to be sure.

I am certain that I have the latest plugin, and I did delete all of the artwork files with the exception of the ArtworkDB file, which I assume only holds metadata rather than images and is the smallest file present. After deleting the images each time, this file is always the same size.

I will not be able to resync for a few days, but will certainly do some more testing when I can.
Thanks

I had posted recently that music and album art were syncing OK to my iPhone - but it doesn't seem to be the case!

I have an iPhone 4 with OS4.0 and MM 3.2.2.1298. I had transferred one or two albums, and had seen the artwork on my iPhone. So I spent about an hour transferring other albums. When I took a look at the iPhone later, all the albums were there, and the music played fine, but there was no artwork at all! Including the 2 covers which I had checked initially!

Any ideas?

Did you do a full sync or just add some more albums using 'send to...'?

I've always found with MM that artwork can be messed up when only adding albums and not doing a full remove and sync.

It may be a bug that the devs need to look at? I've not had this on my i4 and adding single albums after a full sync has been fine.

I've done both full syncs and added an album here and there with success (though I still have the large album art folder issue described above)

Dan- is it possible that you have (2) instances of the iPhone.dll in your plugins folder? I am not sure, but it is worth a check. It could also explain why (2) iPhones are showing in the MM tree.

Just a thought.
BP

Also, if either of you have a large collection on the phone (or really any size), can see how much space the Artwork Folder is taking up on the phone in relation to how many tracks you have? (You can download "iPhone Browser" for free if you do not have a program that allows you to see the contents of your phone). - I'd appreciate it

Thanks wd - your suggestion seems to have sorted it! I had renamed the old file to iPhone(old).dll, though MM was still reading it and inserting it into the tree. I moved that file to a separate folder and now only one instance of the iPhone appears. Also, the artwork seems to be transferring correctly so far!

Not to be nosey, but why are you keeping the older instance of the .dll? I'd just delete it, or save over top whenever jiri releases updates. (Or just move the old one to a place to backup - maybe with the date of release to keep track).

Either way, happy it seems to be working for you.

When you finish syncing, can you let me know how much space the album art is taking up? I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks

i would assume so that if things didn't work out, or if the new dll caused MM to crash, he could at least revert easily to the 'official' dll?

the first rule of updating anything in alpha/beta: BACK UP!!!
