I admit it, I made a HUGE mistake and allowed Apple software on my machine. After declaring iTunes still completely inferior to MediaMonkey and offering nothing new, I uninstalled it. Now every time I run MediaMonkey, it crashes.
1. Windows 7 Ultimate x64 all current patches, updates, 4GB ram, C: 120GB SDD, N: 320GB HD, E: DVD Burner. Media Monkey ran fine before installing iTunes 10.
2. Error message is Exception EAccessViolation in module d_iPhone.dll at 645BAB69. Access violation at address 645BAB69. Read of address 645BAB69.
3. Steps to reproduce:
1. Install MediaMonkey, runs fine...
2. Install iTunes 10, let it scan library, etc.
3. Realize that nope, still a steaming pile
4. Uninstall Apple iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support (I left Quicktime as it was install previously)
5. Run MediaMonkey, crashes at startup.
6. Run REGEDIT and remove the stuff the uninstaller left behind.
7. Delete iTunes files from user directory
8. Run MediaMonkey, still crashes at startup. (note that after closing, it stays running in background with no UI windows eating a whole core... have to kill with TaskMan, looks like it is scanning the library and normal startup stuff when I let the program run under the DevStudio debugger).
9. Write a bug report here and at Apple.
Crash log sent per instructions ticket XFV-528701, as you can see it thinks the d_iPhone and d_iPod plug ins are needed, but dies because the Apple Mobile Device Support is not there. I don't own an iPod, iPhone, iPad, etc... so I don't need or want that software on my machine.
I am a Gold purchaser.
FOLLOW UP:
I reinstalled iTunes 10 and MM starts fine. Disabled the iPod and iPhone devices in MM (can't delete them) and went through the uninstall process of iTumes one item at a time. If i leave _ONLY_ Apple Application Support installed (e.g. uninstall iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Software Update, AND Apple Mobile Device Support), then MediaMonkey will startup fine.
I still think this should be fixed in MediaMonkey so that A) When I've got iPod and iPhone disabled, it shouldn't talk to those devices' libraries AT ALL and B) You might want to track down and handle the error that occurs when Apple Application Support is uninstalled so that you don't die just because someone (like me) was foolish enough to install iTunes.
Also, I had tried a reinstall of Quicktime as I actually wanted that present FIRST. It still died if Apple Application Support was not installed.

If you have QuickTime installed try reinstalling it. Otherwise just rename d_iphone.dll to d_iphone.dll.off in the Program Files/MediaMonkey/Plugins folder.
