I meant that the style is what I want. Glossy and colorful, with a pure distinctive message. If you see at WMP11's icon, it's much more detailed. And that's the Guidelines for Vista.
What do you mean with the style? I assume you talk about the style of the logo thus this thread is about the logo. And clarifying about vista: Its the Vista theme, not the logo, which has the glossy and effectish style. Looking at Microsoft's logo you see that it's really simple.
So, please understand that these "effects" is not suited for a "good" logo. They can be applied afterwards in the worst case. The logo should work in very few colors and in black/white as stated before.
Ehem... Guidelines for Vista, have you ever tried Vista? I'm not talking about the Windows-logo, I'm talking about the icons in Windows Vista. It's those you need to watch at, not the windows logo. Maybe this will explain a bit for you?

Realistic and detailed are the UX guidelines for Windows Vista. None of the logos here doesn't represent that, not the new one in MM3 either.
What does the icons for Vista has to do with the new MM logo? You are really confusing me. This thread is about whether to have a new logo or not, and if yes, how it should look like. Did you understand my last post about how a logo should look like? Take a look here http://www.goodlogo.com/top250 and see that all successful logos are very simple with few colors. All of these logos have been "make up:ed" with shine-effects etc. on the web and other medias but before doing that, one need to have a shape, a base to stand on. Hope I brought you some light in the subject.
There's nothing wrong with a large image representing a brand/program (detailed, like large-format Vista icons, cfr. Morten) but we must remember that usually there's not enough place to put the logo (e.g. 32x32, on a banner, ...) so for smaller sizes, a recognizable simpler logo (cfr. Agge) is required anyway, if we want to keep it recognizable.
Some logos/icons are the same for all sizes, some have a different images/look for each size. So in my opinion, both of you guys are right, at least in the way I understand it.
One of the reasons I settled on Media Monkey was the logo. It's fun and friendly looking. Helpful branding for software in such a complex role as music manager and tagger.

What Vista has to do with MediaMonkey v3? A LOT! It's one of the main reasons they want a fast MM3 release. And yes, branding is very important in marketing, and also distinctiveness. I believe that the logo which is present is much more distinctive and professional than anyone I've seen for this program. However, I would love to get a Vista-style MediaMonkey logo to compliment it's support for this OS.
i wish you could see the old monkey in the new icon instead of just the outline, maybe just coming out of the shadows
audiophiles should love every type of musical gear evolution made possible and contribute to the evolution by helping to improve whatever type of technology it is. especially something as radical as mediamonkey.
now that is a good merger if it was just a little brighter to really see it.
