10-foot interface skin?

Post by MeMeMe »

Are there any skins that allow control of MediaMonkey with a remote on a couch far from the TV?
I have an HTPC, and mediamonkey is the best music player, but I can't use it there because I have to stand up and move over to the TV to read the GUI, and also need to break out mouse and keyboard.

try the mediamonkeytv skin i made its huge made for 2000 x 1600 or so screens.

peke said the png format images look bad on the tv set but i don't know how to fix that. the png format looks
good on this computer.

let me know how it looks in more detailed terms and i'll try and get it fixed for mm 3. 8)

not sure if it will be working in mm 4 as i still can't get my other skins working or mm 4 its self working here. :(

I'll give it a try, if I can find it. Link? (I went here http://www.angelfire.com/tx3/rovingcowboy/huge.html, but got a File Expired message when trying to download it).

There's more to making a 10 foot interface skin, though, than coping with high resolution. Actually, skins made for smaller screens are probably better, if the elements (icon sizes, ect.) scale out with the higher resolution.

A 10' interface needs:
a) very large text on all elements, so it can be comfortable read from 10' away
b) needs to provide as much functionality as possible using very few keys (up/down/left/right and enter, ideally, plus use of multimedia keys)
c) can get away with less functionality than normal - you mainly need to be able to navigate through your albums and playlists, and play/pause/stop.

okay thanks i just checked it the link on that page has been wrong since i put it up there. the site that page is on wants exact type casement on the links. i used small type in link and the page it was going to uses caps on the first letters.
i fixed that page now it works. also found they changed the links at my msn host site but have been redirecting them.
all are there and work.

now to answer your statements above.

a. text controled by the skin is only able to be made large on the player.
the user has to change the text in the list view area. :D
any text made larger in the panels by the skinner or the user tends to be cut off. :(

b. all that is done by the program developers. 8)

c. that is a skinner thing too we can add or subtract the number of buttons and ones to use on it. but i mostly put ones
there that have been asked for over and over again in the forum when someone wants it on another skin i try and keep it
or add it to my skins. but i've stopped with that at the number of normal buttons.

that one screenshot you seen with the album covers in it was the monkeyflow script when i had it working on this computer.
