Accidental deletion of Music....help!

I accidently deleted 40 songs.

Instead of "Deleting from Library", I deleted from "Library and Computer"

Any way of recovering these songs?

And, any way, of eliminating this possible error in the future?

Check your recycle bin. If the files are still in there, you can restore them to where they were before.

As far as preventing it, don't select 'Remove from Library and Computer' anymore. Once you pick 'Remove from Library', MM will remember this setting every time you delete (as a default setting).

That's the thing, it doesn't send the songs to the recycle bin!

The only way to prevent this, except the Bin, is to keep an archive on DVDs or so. I learned this when I made my own such a mistake I'm sorry for you. I know, it's pity.

In all likelihood-no <I did it a while back>. You need to view the popup that prompts you each time. I agree that the Library Only checkbox should be ticked-but make sure anyway.
If you have the tunes on CD or stored on another machine then you can copy and rescan back into the Library.

Maybe a prompt that asks if you are sure you want to delete these tracks from the computer would be a good solution. Making this mistake is just a bit to easy.

I'm just glad, I didn't accidentlly delete, my whole music collection (20,000 songs, albums, videos)

I have all those backed up, these were just new songs that I had just downloaded.

And with dial-up takes a long time to download 40 songs!

Oh, well, just have to download them again!

Just had this happen to me on a folder of music. Why doesn't Mediamonkey move the files to the Recycle Bin? This really seems like the logical behavior. Plus it deleted the wrong folder.

1. Deleted a folder called "The Allman Brothers". Pressed Remove 2 times though.
2. Confirmed delete 1 time.
3. Moved 2nd folder from "Allman Brothers" to "The Allman Brothers"
4. Oops, there's a dialogue box that says to remove a folder. Instead of close it, I hit return.
5. Since I renamed the 2nd folder, it was actually removed!

Is there any way to recover this directory?

MediaMonkey does a standard windows delete. This means if the harddrive the music is on doesn't allow the files to be deleted to the Recycle Bin they will be permanently deleted, if your Recycle Bin reached it quota it also results in permanent loss of the files.
