MM stuck on "Reading Tracks..." for 10+ minutes
When I start MM and click on a Library node none of my music shows up. Instead "Reading Tracks..." is displayed on the status bar for 5 to 15 minutes and then all my music shows up. I have googled this and have done all the things I have come up with like: clearing now playing and disabling music leveling but it didn't work.
I uninstalled and reinstalled MM no help, Installed 3.1 and that did not work either.
Please help me.
Here are my specs:
WIN 7 32bit
Core 2 Quad
1TB HDD and 1 500GB HDD

How many tracks in your library? How long if you expand an artist node and click on a specific artist, for example?

150 songs in my library. If I click on an Album It has little difference (1-2min. less) then if I click on library.

Oh, yeah -- that's bad. Where is your database saved to? somewhere other than the default location?

Okay but I'm talking about the database file (MM.DB). http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=17RandomAcronym wrote:All my music is saved on E drive as is MM. It is the second drive in my computer.

Re: MM stuck on "Reading Tracks..." for 10+ minutes
Have you tried...
- Gone to the LOCATION node and done Add/Rescan?
- Optimize Database (Quick, or Complete, option)?
- Set up a File Monitor rule for the location of the music in Preferences?

Re: MM stuck on "Reading Tracks..." for 10+ minutes
1. If I add/rescan it dose not help. If I clear library then close MM then open it back up then rescan it dose not read the tracks but it dose the next time I open it.
2. no help.
3. I have always had File Monitor set to my music.

Re: MM stuck on "Reading Tracks..." for 10+ minutes
And E: is a second IDE/EIDE hard drive in the system, not a USB 1.0/2.0 external drive? (I've done AutoOrganize actions with USB key drives, and it's a bit sloooooow.)

Re: MM stuck on "Reading Tracks..." for 10+ minutes
E: is a internal SATA drive.
FWI: E: is the 1TB and C: is the 500gb. a 500gb external USB drive is also plugged most of the time, MM only looks at E:.

Re: MM stuck on "Reading Tracks..." for 10+ minutes
are you using some kind of filter?
if so, doe it still get stuck when filter set to none?

Re: MM stuck on "Reading Tracks..." for 10+ minutes
strange.
well I would suggest a couple things you could do;
- install debug version of mm and debug viewer to capture the debug log on what causing the delay with existing database, this won't solve the delay, but should indicate what is happening to cause it.
- rename (or delete if you don't need to keep any of the playlists/history/etc) and rescan a fresh database to see if problem is related to old database or if a new one also has delay as well.
