Took the Plunge with MM Gold

Post by Norman24 »

I am a proud owner of MM Gold as of a few minutes ago... I searched, I seen, I tried out and I purchased... I've tried many over the years and to me MM Gold is the best no-nonsense media player and more... I had J River Media Player for years but lately, they have made their program so difficult to get around, they just went way beyond the "KISS" statement, Keep it Simple Stupid, it just wasn't fun anymore to use...

So, I'm happy to be part of MM Gold and hope to be around here for a long time.... Just wanted to say thanks to all of you that helped me make up my mind, so give yourselves a pat on the back... :D

Be well and Happy Holidays....

thanks for the confirm on the id10t style of j.r.mjb i left that in 2000 and have not lost any sleep over the move to mediamonkey.

but coming from there you might want to check the options for monkey before you ask about something it might be
called something different here then in j.r.mjb.

also check out the scripts found in the all scripts thread in the help with addon's forum room.
and go to the monkey's wiki site to get the skins you want there are lots of mm 3 skins to use and
they are going to work on mm 4 also so that is good.

I just installed Jriver out of curiosity.

And its an awesome program. After only a few minutes I'm already finding tons of things that I've wished MM would have since a long time.

"idiot style"? Really? We probably not tried the same program. :-?

Well, the only thing I can say is that I'm much happier with MMG... Yes, id10t style... I took me a few yrs longer to realize it....

oh making your own skin? yep you found the right pages there. that page is all the info you need
if you already program but if your a new person and have no idea what those words mean to do.
then take one of the walk throughs there are several i did a few and morten did one i think he got it up there
he said he was making one?

i took the newbie level of help and make a walkthrough for the theme mask part since it was the hardest
to learn that will get your foot in the door. if you want some more help and tips on the making the player skin
then read the walkthrough i did on how to convert mm 2 skins in to mm 3 skins. that will help with making
new mm 3 skins for the players. all the help is there for making skins but in use of the theme engine there
are some things we did not put on the pages so you have to ask in the forum for art work here.
most of us that make skins will answer help for skinning in that forum as fast as we can see the post.
there are all kinds of little things the help on the theme engine does not say and we all have figured them out, over
the times of making skins.

sport skins now i'm not getting in to that cause its a very touchy area.
i live in texas and the cowboys are the team here, but they ain't my team so i'd be one of the fans that gets beatup
cause i sat on the wrong side of the stadium and cheered for the other team.
you say they wouldn't do that.? you don't know my teams. but they sure would cause of them. the redskins, and the stealers. are my teams. both very well h....ted rivials of the cowboys.
the rangers baseball team is cool though. but my team is the pirates. so you know i don't go to the events around here.
i like to breath don't ya know.

irish jet made some good sports team skins, i think he changed his name? but i remember him as irishjet cause i pictured a green 747 flying in the sky and can't forget his old name now. :)

yes its a different program now then when i used it as its been almost 10 years since i used it.
before i left it they were able to do recording with the thing like a wav editor almost as good as one. then they
got cheap on that feature, then took it out and added some other not realy any good ideas in to the mjb and made
the record a cheap line in only with little to no information on what you were doing to the file, which they had before
and took out to make it cheap styling.

they said at one time they would not use ogg files anymore they might have changed their mind on that though?
and they used real player codes to do some things, those codes did not let the user have as much freedom as mjb had
when i started using the program several years earlier,
they asked for user input and user created items. but they would not take them unless you were a cert.. creator for them or some other such bull. i sent in av effects over several upgrades to the program each time i sent them in they changed
the way they were made and released the new upgrade, it was found out later they did throw out the zip files that were sent in if you were not one of their cert.. users. i was unable to talk to the developers there in their own forum also. back then it was set up for us to speak to the mods then they took it to the developers, very bad way of doing things they might have got smarter now and changed that too. making me learn or figure out how to make av effects with each upgrade then tossin' them out is the reason i tossed that program and went looking for another one. i found medaimonkey and rusty answered my question to my liking and i've been here ever since. just joined in the forum in 2003 was lurking for awhile back then.

so that is why i say id10t style of program at j.r.mjb

I was highly satisfied when bought MMG for the Batch File Conversions (From FLAC to MP3) and for the iPod Support. especially the ability to convert from FLAC to mp3 during iPod Sync. That is a HUGE benefit that should attract many more users, and should be advertised more prominently. It means I can delete 200MB of MP3 files which were no longer needed, and halves the effort of tagging them all correctly. Brilliant!
