Television Sort Order [#8463]

Post by kmenzel »

Currently, when you are on the Television node, and you sort by series, it appears to list the episodes alphabetically. I think it would be more intuitive if clicking on the "Series" column to sort the view would then sort by season, followed by episode.

If this is somehow configurable and I'm missing it, that would be great to know - but I also think it should be the default sort order for that column, as it relates to other columns....

Click "Series", hold Ctrl key, click "Season", hold Ctrl Key, click "Episode#".

Thanks! Still think it should be the default sort order anyway. Sorting alphabetically by title seems to be relatively useless as a default behaviour :)

Completely agree that it should be the default sort, but my problem is I want to be able to do this sort in the 'Show Art' view, but don't seem to be able to choose the headers to be able to change the sort order. Can you change the sort order in Art view or not?

You can change the sort order but you cannot change the displayed columns.

At any rate, I can't reproduce the issue described here. If I sort only by "Series", the files are ordered by Series, then Season#, then Episode# as expected.

Yes, the sort order of Series has been fixed as of build 1433.

Okay, I tried switching view to Details and then back to Art - hey presto it's sorted as you say, season then episode. However, if after I switch back to Art view I change nodes it's back to sorting by name.

First off when I go to the TV node in art view, "Series" doesn't show at all as an available column.

This seems partly fixed but still a bit dodgy in 1441 . Firstly, when I went to the view it still wasn't sorted properly (although I don't know if that's because it's carrying over settings from my previous install). I was then able to click 'Series' and it did sort correctly :) . I then tried switching to details and then back to art view, the series column header has now disappeared and if I change the sort order I can't change it back to Series :( .

And do you have Series column visible in Details view ?

Err no. As follows
Details:
Season, Episode, Title, Director, Producer, Genre, Summary, Rating, Path, FIlename, Length, track no., bit rate, filesize, play count and last played.
Art:
Director, Producer, Genre, Date, Rating, Length.

But, as I said above, I did have Series at first in art view, just not after switching away. I've tried adding Series back into details and it now reappears in Art view as Series/Title.

This still doesn't seem quite fixed. I'm getting season 1, then season 10. It's only if I actively select Series that it's sorted correctly. Thanks
