1414: Show Art with Details [#8260]

Post by HaraldBluetooth1963 »

What happened with the Artist/Album column?

Now it's replaced with Summary(Artview) x 2

Right. This way you're not limited to Artist/Album, you can show whatever you like in Summary (controlled at Options > Playback rules).

Hmm - I have tried the new options in Playback rules.

How do I get the "old" sorting back in the view "Show Art with Details"

Album Artist
Album
Disc
Track#

when I choose these fields in the new options box, it doesn't give me the old sorting.

The new column Summary(Artview) doesn't have a descending/ascending arrow anymore and it sorts in Album order for each Album Artist's first letter (A, B, C....) and it should be sorting in Album Artist order and when several albums with the same Album Artist, then are these sorted in Album order. I doubt any can use this odd sorting method as it is now, although I could be wrong.

I can't see the forest for all the trees :)

Has someone succeeded with the "old" sorting method?

The new Summary column can't be used for sorting. In this column is showing info based on Playback Rules settings. You can define different fields for different types so when you have more than one type in the view, sorting by this columns doesn't make sense.
For example you have defined:
- type Music :
- 1st row <Album Artist>
- 2nd row <Album>
- type Music Video
- 1st row <Artist>
- 2nd row <Title>

When you will have both types in current view, you don't know what fields use for sorting.

To show how the sorting was done in MM3 (and MM4 until this summary field/column came into play) and the new sorting, I've taken some screenshots.

Note: The columns 'Album Artist' and 'Album' can't be shown in 'Show Art with details' - they are greyed out. So how do I get the old 'Show Art with Details' sorting back.
The old sorting is essential to me, because I cant sort by 'Artist', because this goes wrong, when you have a album with several different artists and Various in Album Artist. Then is the album spread all over the place for each artist.

Best would be to enable Album Artist and Album columns in AA+Details view (actually Album Artist is enough, because you can sort by album when sorting by Album Art column).

Yeah you're right, but as I said above, those Columns can't be chosen in Show Art with Details, because they are greyed out.

So now I hope this will be acknowledged as a bug by the dev's/moderator gurus :)

New Summary column makes sense. In MM3 there's always Album Artist + Album so makes sense to call it 'Artist/Album' and sort by these fields, but in MM4 you can define what fields you want to see there. This column cannot be called 'Artist/Album' (and sort by these fields as it was in MM3) when you have defined Artist + Title, or Producer + Year etc. to be shown.

After installing of version 1416 this sorting problem is only partly solved.

Correct sorting after activating the ascending-descending arrow for Summary column:

But after refresh with F5 or changing to another genre node and back again, this wrong sorting is presented:

I've just been searching for a solution to this issue as well - I was using 1414, now updated to 1416 and the problem is almost fixed.
The Album Artist column is no longer greyed out in the Art with Details view, but (I think) it can't be used for sorting for some reason or other.
However, I've managed to get round by switching <Album Artist> and <Album> in the Playback Rules and then sorting by Summary (Art View).
It works well with Compilations (like the Kerrang! one in the first screenshot) - the tracks show in Track # order rather than sorted alphabetically by Artist.
