I need a mono output on my work computer so that I can use a single earbud (i.e. one earbud from a normal pair of headphones). I've read about WinAmp and I've seen skins that have a mono/stereo switch but the threads were above my paygrade! Is it possible to simply set the output to mono (permanently) or can someone talk a numpty through a more technical solution? I don't want to convert my work library to mono (unless I have to).

Re: Mono output required
switch in the skins for mono or stereo is just a switch that is to work when you first start a song. if the song is in mono format it shows the word or image on my skins for the mono format, if in stereo it shows the word or image for stereo format.
as to get what you want i know you can use an old old old very old win amp plugin, if there are any newer i don't know? but find the wide & dynamic plug in use it there is a setting on it that if you turn it to the left it changes the output of the plugin to mono. i've used it before that way and ran the songs to my old home unit that blew its right speaker chip. so i ran the ac wire to the left input and played the songs as mono through it. did not change the library on the computer just the songs going to the speakers.
there was no instructions with that plug in but its simple to understand by remembering the sound goes in the left side of the plugins gui image and out the right side of the image. so start adjustments on the left and work towards the right. that plug in will load in to winamp's plugin folder just go to that folder and cut it out and put it in to mediamonkey's plug in folder. then start mediamonkey go to the main options panel and pick it in the dsp section and then click okay on options it should be loaded but you can restart monkey to make sure.
