1613 truncating folders & files names [#10280]

Post by kookykrazee »

As the title says, I just installed 1613 and find a lot of folders and files that show as truncated but they are fine in my folder structure, using W7 Ultimate all updates and such and this did not happen in the previous 4.1 build. Any ideas or suggestions? Also, any chance of .ts files being added, I was told "maybe" 4.1, I can hope right?

This is in my Artist & Album Artist Node, in a subfolder that 6k+ files, mostly mp3s They show as

I:\#Meda\#Done\#Name\BANGLE~1\1d3E6~1.THE\1984-A~1\01-HER~1.MP3

There are other files and folders with longer overall file names that are just fine, as best I can tell. Any ideas?

Edit: Updated to the newer 1614, no change.

Do you mean the Path column?

Yes, sorry forgot to add that, I have mp3s that are in that same exact folder and the file I referenced, with much longer names, not truncated.

But where do you see this? The Path or Filename column, or the tree (Location node)? Feel free to add a screenshot to explain.

Okay, I was working on the screenshot, but it is from the path column. Try this, it gives a general idea of what is happening:

Thanks!

I suggest capturing the loading of the node in a debug log (step 4b) and send it to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=69084 Do you know if you scanned these files in after upgrading?

It looks like DOS style truncating which doesn't actually affect the underlying Paths.

These files did scan in after the upgrade. Other files loaded fine. Gonna try a couple things and if they don't work then I will submit the debug log. As you say it's doing 8.3, which I joked to my friend, that I do not miss a single bit...lol

I just checked some recently added files and it shows normal Paths for me. As we're now on build 1614 you may want to remove some affected files, and scan them in again to see if it still happens (keep DBGview running to capture it if it does).

I was already doing that, before I had replied back, though I guess I should have done the logging, will remove them, again, and try again.

Path truncated in 1614

Post by Michel37 »

Happened in 1614 for me too. Now that i wanted to create a debug file, the problem didn´t occur again :(
I´m using Win8 Pro 64bit.

According to this here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=69084

No error. Only the paths showed truncated in 8.3 format.
