[SOLVED] Login to install "Install as Service"

Post by steviegt »

When installing "Install as Service", I'm prompted for my password. I continually get an error message. I am positive my password is correct. Positive. I installed as service with previous install of MM without issue. I have reinstalled MM and started as administrator with no luck. I login to my PC with my Microsoft account. I went to my profile and logged out & in just to verify password. Worked fine. Do I need to login to my Local account to make this work? Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I'm not being able to replicate, using user account when prompted for a password I'm giviing admin password and service is installed.
Have you tried to see MMW service directly under system services?

Thanks for replying. I had to go to "Services" app in Windows and then to properties for MediaMonkeyServices". I went to LogOn tab and overtyped the password fields with my existing password and the service started. I then tried to Install service in MM and it worked.

Hi,
if you start MM as admin then the [Install Service] with install the service with the admin account (i.e. admin password on the Log On tab)
if you start MM normally (from the user account) then you need to enter password of the user account, and the same password is used on the "Log On" tab.

So I guess that previously you either mistyped the password or there was the password mismatch re admin/user account?
To confirm could you start MM normally (user account) and click [Uninstall service] then click [Install Service] and type the correct _user_ password.
I guess this works?

This solution still worked 7 years later. Thanks! It was a life saver.
