MM4: Playing .ISO files [#9243]

Post by TJ »

My wish is to be able to play .ISO files within MM4. Is this possible seeing that VLC can handle .ISO files?

Why not use Virtual Clone Drive to mount .ISO files?

Virtual Clone will only allow me to mount 8 ISOs at a time. I would like to be able to use MediaMonkey to organize ISO's like any other video file on my hard drive.

The ability to integrate ISO files into the MM4 DLNA playback would be great.

A complimentary file with the same name (except extension) as the ISO file could contain the necesary "tags"?????

All of the media players on my system now open .iso video files without extracting or mounting them (Splayer, VLC, & MPC-HC.) WMP & Media Center will even do it if I'm on a 32-bit system. In addition they all play split rar files the same way. Also, Mediamonkey is still a 32-bit app so it shouldn't have too much trouble implementing the same methods.

Please, please look into this for us?

Thanks
My current favorite software: MediaMonkey Gold!

It seems that if I generate an ISO file and fool MM by renaming it with a .rm suffix (Real Player) I am able to include it in my library as a single file. I use VLC as external player...

I have all my DVD collection stored on a NAS, ripped as .iso files, so I'd find this a very useful feature too.

Just wanted to weigh in on this as well. I have been a long time user of VLC, and have liked it, but I really dig MM, and prefer to use one application wherever I can. I think I'd like to store all of my ripped DVDs on my Server, like someone else said, and be able to play them from anywhere.

Just curious, in the absence of this feature, what is everyone doing for a workaround? Using VLC + MM? Ripping to a different format (I am open to this, if it doesn't drain quality). If so, what should I use for ripping? I tried WinX DVD last night, and it seems to have failed altogether. In case you haven't noticed, I am kinda new at this, but organizing my music is a passion of mine, and I want to extend that to my photos and now my movies, particularly my concert DVDs. Any advice, or tips would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to chime in here as well, I vote for this as an option as well. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but a handy feature if added.

+1 for ISO support, even not able to PLAY iso files, it would be great to use MM to CATALOG and ORGANIZE them.

Support for this idea from here too! All mainstream disk image formats would be welcome for that matter, if the formats are freely available, but ISO is minimum requirement.
