Syncing changes on device back to PC

Post by rogrogrog »

Hello,
Syncing from my PC to Android phone is working a charm. But if I change playlists on my phone, they're not syncing back to my PC.
It might be as simple as: What's the 'Destination' folder meant to be set to, under the 'Auto-Sync (-->Library)' tab? (I'm suspicious of what mine's set to).
Thanks, Rog.
By the way, great looking product. It seems solid, flexible, and with a million beautiful settings and options.

Which version of MMA and MMW? Did you enable the option to sync Playlists back?

Hello,
Yes, I've checked 'sync new songs and playlists from device back to pc'.
MMW is 4.1.20.1864, and 1.3.1.0751 on device.

To be sure, you're changing Playlists in MMA and they're not from AutoPlaylists in MMW?

Yes, correct, I'm trying to make changes on MMA but they're not making it back to MMW. And they're not auto-playlists.
Can we start with what should be the destination path, for 'new files and playlists from the device to the PC'?

Hi,
Please update to latest MMA Beta and MMW RC as there are number of tweaks to Bi-Directional sync.

Playlists are Database only, so Path doesn't factor in this.

It's used to tell MediaMonkey where to save your media files on your PC and that can be anywhere you desire.

Okay, thanks, I've tried that, but the problem persists.
I've also tried uninstalling the app a few times, without success.
Next idea?

Hi,
I'm still not being able to replicate non bidirectional sync using MMA 4.1.21.817 and MMW 4.1.21.1870
Are you sure that you enabled Bi-Di sync in MMW profile?

Hello,
Correct. (Noting my MMA is 1.3.2.0817).
Under the tab for 'Auto-Sync (--> Library)', auto-sync is selected (for music and playlists). I've given it a path. 'Confirm updates...' is selected, as is the syncing of metadata.
I've noticed an additional problem that might or might not be related: On MMA, I can modify existing playlists, but can't create new ones. Could that be a permissions issue?
My hunch is the sync problem is a problem with a setting somewhere. If you agree, I'd be grateful if you want to step through what each one should be.
Cheers, Rog.

Hi,
I'm trying whole day to replicate and I can't, can you please put some steps in both MMW and MMA and stop feeling like a noob?

Thanks for trying. Sorry it's a frustrating one - I've read every section of the manual that seems to be relevant, trawled the forum, and tried several varieties of re-install. I've spent many, many hours on it.
Unfortunately, in upgrading to the beta versions, things seem to have worsened. It was the case that MMW was syncing to MMA, but not vice versa. Now, neither are working.

If, by 'steps', you mean "What steps am I taking?", then:
I plug in device (Moto x4, with MMA on 64g SD card). MMW recognises.
On summary tab, I've checked "scan as soon as connected", not checked "auto sync", not checked "automatically unmount", have checked "remote sync rights".
On auto-sync --> device tab, I've checked collections for music and playlists. Not checked "random subset". Have checked "Delete other files" / Unselected Library files.
On auto-sync --> Library tab, I've checked "Auto-Sync new files to the PC", and then selected MediaMonkey, Music, and Playlists. Have checked "Confirm updates", and "Auto-sync metadata".
On pressing the "Auto sync" button, MMW prepares list of files, then begins copying.
There are a couple of error messages relating to specific music files, which seems normal and correct.
Auto-sync finishes.
Problem 1: New files and playlists in MMW aren't transferred to device.
Problem 2: In MMA, new playlists can't be created, however changes to existing playlists can be made (but are not synced back to MMW).

Is this the sort of information you're after?
Any ideas on what I should try, or check?
Also, is paid tech support available? ...I've paid a lifetime subscription, but I've spent a month on this problem and would really like to get it sorted. Thanks.
