MMW on PC Win10
MMA on Samsung Galaxy S8
Synced my music to my phone. I have many albums with multiple artists. Example: One album has the album artist of A but every single song has artists B, C, D etc.
In MM on Windows I can sort and display by album artist and therefore avoid having a single line entry for each song that has a different artist.
In MM on Android the app seems to be able to only sort via artist, that makes overview of music list very long (one entry per song with different artist).
Does anyone know about a work around or has an idea how to solve this issue?
Alternatively, is there a way to swap the meta data 'album artist' with 'artist'. I could do this manually but this would be too much work. Is there an automated way, script etc?
I have already researched in the Forum and Google but could not find good tips.
Could someone please point me in the right direction?
Thank you!
P.S. Merry Christmas!

I love the product. I tried many other solutions. Nothing beats MediaMonkey.

Hi,
I do not see the need for Swap as MMA also have Album Artist if you personalize you can enable Album Artist Icon And Sort like that.
Or I am Missing something?

Re: Sort by album artist in MMA
Hi Peke,
ja, that is right. MMA has album artist. I just wanted to navigate in MMA from Genre --> Album artist.
MMA works like that if you choose Genre than all your music is sorted by artist.
But I fixed this and found a work around.
Thank you though!

Hi,
Can you share the workaround, maybe there is a space to improve MMA?

Re: Sort by album artist in MMA
Mate, my work around is silly and too simple. I really just manually in MMA got rid of the individual artist names and bulk edited it as album artist.

Hi,
In device profile under Options -> Tagging you can set that MMW sync only First Artist/Composer.

Re: Sort by album artist in MMA
Hey, I've been experiencing the same problem....thousands of 1-song artists cluttering my Artist section, so I would prefer Album Artist after clicking "Genre" in MMA. Is there any chance that option will be built in?
As an aside, "sync only First Artist/Composer" (or genre) has never worked for me, so that work around isn't workable for me

Re: Sort by album artist in MMA
I'll second/third this as a recommendation for future development. It's important to my use case. Music dinosaurs like me still think of music in terms of albums and not individual tracks. I have a number of compilation albums/sets that I tag "Various Artists" for Album Artist while retaining the correct Artist tag for each track. If I select Jazz or Bluegrass or whatever for Genre, I don't want to see those albums split out into 20 different Artists each, creating crazy clutter in the menu. I could sort of work around it by tagging the tracks as "Various Artists" for the Artist tag, but then I lose that artist information unless I move it into the track title, which leads to really long and awkward titles.
IIRC, iPods basically had this option - something like "sort by Album Artist" as a toggle. It just replaced all sorts by Artist by a corresponding sort by Album Artist instead.
