This is not true for me. When I go into the Web play store and select Media Monkey click install I get a greyed out box for:
nVidia Shield Android TV
This item is not comparable with your device.

If I can get this installed, I would be more than happy to test any beta's you have on my nVidia shield Android TV.

Is there any interest in creating an Nvidia Shield TV version of MM?

I would love a version of MM for android TV. I can beta/alpha test anything, I do program, but mainly DB systems. Never do android programming.

Hi,
For me MediaMonkey is shown compatible for Android TV (Nexus Player). Have you tried to side load it?

Hello all, thanks for sharing,

I get through all messages and I'm not sure I got all "hits and clips".

As far as I understand Nexus Player seems to be compatible with MM. Does it mean that when you've got a Nexus Player, it is possible to install MM through Google Play Store because in this case your player is marked as compatible ?

For Nvidia Shield, so far is there anybody that succeeds to install MM on its Nvidia Shield ? If so is it possible to have some tricks ? From my side Google Play Store tips my Nvidia Shield as incompatible.

Why am I asking, because I am not fully satisfied by Kodi and Plex and I must agree that I am a MM addict the best ever music player.

Thanks a lot.

Also dev. Martin just got Newest nVidia Shield TV, so support will be much better in future MMA versions.

MediaMonkey For Android TV

Post by dypsis »

I have been playing around with my Android TV and have found it to be really in need of a good Android TV music player.
I have tried a few different ones, including JRiver, VLC, Kodi and MX Player Pro, but all of them except for Kodi have very limited functionality.

Is there any chance that MediaMonkey is going to be released for Android TV? 🙄

Hi,
Have you tried to sideload it?

Personally I use only fully safe version of ES File explorer 1.1.4 from https://www.cyanogenmods.org/es-file-ex ... -download/ and access shared folder To install MMA and as shown in pics above it can be added into home screen.

Other than that ATM I can only say that you will Love MMA 2.0

As for direct access to videos/music from NAS/PC Share folder, a combo of ES File explorer and MMA or MX Player (with custom codecs pack) can help you play almost anything.

Also on my Nexus Player I have https://www.amazon.com/Rii-Bluetooth-Ad ... B007X9BDH0 but also have tested several of these https://www.amazon.com/stores/Rii/page/ ... f_=ast_bln

on Android TV 8.x+ you can easily enable sideload for ES file explorer by:
Going to to the Settings cog towards the top-right corner of the home screen. Click it, then head to "Device Preferences," then "Security & Restrictions." From there, click "Unknown sources" and enable the toggle next to ES File explorer. then you can easily sideload MMA APK from shared source.

Finally I would also suggest https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... n_US&gl=US as it can start apps that can't be added to home screen.

I'm a Beta tester, but how do I get it on my Android TV to test it?
Is there an APK available?

Father Christmas has come early and brought me a Sonos Arc/Sub/Surrounds and an Nvidia Shield TV Pro 4K. :D :D :D

Anyone with any experience of using either of these devices with MM?

One of the reasons I bought the Shield was to use it as a NAS by attaching my Music harddrive.

Got so many options now, I'm wondering what is the nicest user experience?

Ideally I'd like MM Server/Library on the Shield with the attached external Music drive so I can play Music via MM over the Sonos system. And without having to leave a laptop on to serve the MM client.
I've been using the Sonos app to access my library via a laptop but its a bit random on connection. I can choose a Folder/Genre/Conductor etc etc but it sometimes shows a "unavailable" when I get to the actual track/playlist. This seems to be random, plays sometimes, sometimes unavailable.

Any thoughts on best MM Server/Library - Client setup without using my laptop???

MMA isn't available on the Play Store on AndroidTV devices (MMA 2.0 should be).
