EQ problem with Bluetooth devices

Hi. I am posting on this forum because I have been experiencing a frustrating issue with MediaMonkey and Bluetooth and I'm hoping someone has an idea. I use MediaMonkey on my Pixel 2 XL. I have noticed that when I use the EQ with my wired JBL headphones, the EQ works perfectly... boosting frequency levels as it should. However, when using the same exact EQ settings with Bluetooth audio devices, the result is drastically different. Basically the sound is very low and flat, and the EQ sliders don't seem to boost anything as they should. I would expect that the EQ is supposed to work the same way on any sort of audio equipment. I experience this on both my wireless JBL headphones, and my Pioneer car stereo. I just don't get it. Is my phone doing something funky with Bluetooth audio? Is anyone else noticing this?

Interesting information, thank you. Ironically, I bought my Pixel 2 XL after endless frustration with bluetooth audio distortion between my old phone (Galaxy S6 Edge) and my old car stereo that has since been replaced with the Pioneer unit. It seems that most of that information was in regards to the EQ that is part of Play Music, but some of the behaviors that people were noting did seem similar to MediaMonkey EQ. Seems it could just be a Pixel thing, and I'll admit I've had a hell of a time trying to find Bluetooth headphones for it that maintain good connection. Perhaps the best solution would be to just use a third party EQ app as the others have done? I don't know. I like to keep things simple as much as I can. Come to think of it I guess I use this approach on my PC.

I tested on several phones and BT devices from BT headphones/Speakers/Car Head Unit and in all cases I had no issues with EQ in MMA.

There is one known thing for an older device with sound enhancement called "Sound Boost" or "Boom Sound" which when I enable all apps except Google Play have issues on BT sound. After I disable it all was OK.

I noticed something looking through the settings on my phone that reminded me of your issue. You would need to enable developer options in order to see these settings. Follow these instructions in order to enable them. You may or may not see settings that you can adjust, but on the couple of android devices I have I did see bluetooth audio settings. Whether any of these would help you with your issue or not is hard to say. Just note where the original settings are before changing things, and I think you should only try one setting at a time.
