Adding Radio Stations as Playlists (MMW4)

Post by thehighsierras »

I've successfully added one Radio Station to MMW4, KALX out of Berkeley...So good.
But I can't add any more, especially ones that don't end in ~.m3u (etc) -- think KUSF which presents a resolvable URL...That doesn't seem to work at all.
I want to create a single Playlist of many Radio Streaming services.

MMs wiki doesn't have relevant info as there really isn't an online reference manual.

How do you add/edit/delete Internet Radio for MMW?
How about for Podcasts? Same approach?

Hi,
Create "!!!Radio Stations" Playlist -> Play M3U and D&D playing file to that Playlist to save the link to it.

This is something we plan to improve in MM5.

Hi,
Sorry,
1. Create "!!!Radio Stations" Playlist (Not Auto Playlist)
2. Start Playback of your favorite Radio Station
3. While MMW playing the station
4. Right click on Track
5. Send To
6. Playlists
7. "!!!Radio Stations"

Now You have saved your Radio station in MMW playlist for later listening.

I'm REALLY happy to see this thread!
I love MMW4 (gold) and use it all the time. However the streaming is less than fantastic.

The solution described above is fine for a stream URL. However in my case some radio stations change their URLs/ports over time. What I need is the ability to save a URL which results in a .pls or a .m3u file. MM would then process the resulting playlist file.

The odd thing is that MM already does this (partly). If I go to File-->Open URL and enter:
http://www.foo.com/GenerateAPlaylist.pls
then MM properly pulls down the playlist and populates the "now playing" queue with the entries from the playlist.

What I can not do is add the http://www.foo.com/GenerateAPlaylist.pls as an entry in the library.

Please tell me that I am missing something simple and it can be done!?!?!

Hi,
Unfortunately ATM it is not possible to save Station URL instead of Stream URL. This should improve in future when MM5 gets out.

Can we take this a step further? I am listening to Radio Paradise in MM4 using their posted address:

https://legacy.radioparadise.com/m3u/aac-320.m3u

Media Monkey plays the stream with no noticeable issues, but apparently doesn't receive or simply doesn't show the track that it is playing. Now Playing displays "aac-320".

(Possibly related, Radio Paradise posts a link to their various services, presumably for custom application developers. For example:

http://stream-dc1.radioparadise.com/aac-320 )

Is there a way to capture or make current track information visible?

I believe it is because there isn't any information like that being served up by Radio Paradise. Not even sure if you could see it in MM if it were.
