[MM5] Randomize List not working unless Now Playing list is first reversed

If the last played track is the last listed track in the Now Playing, clicking on "Randomize list" does nothing unless I first click the Reverse list" option.

I am assuming that this is happening because the Randomize List option randomizing only the remaining tracks in the Now Playing. It didn't work that way in MM4. But surely, you can have exception in MM5 that the complete Now Playing list is randomized if the last played track is the last listed track?

Currently running MediaMonkey 5.0.5.2695 on Win 10.

This is already all reworked for MediaMonkey 2024, the upcoming release of MediaMonkey. Randomize has been removed and Shuffle has been made randomize.

OK, got it. But will the order of the tracks in the Now Playing reflect the order that the tracks will be played in shuffle mode?

To me, "shuffle" and "randomize" are two different things. Shuffle is playing a set of tracks in a random yet which is not necessarily the sequence that the tracks are listed in. Randomize just jumbles the list into a random order, and the tracks are played in that sequence.

Would be happy if you could explain how this will be working in MM 2024. Thank you.

MediaMonkey 2024 is designed to always display the order in which tracks will be played in the Playing list. i.e. Shuffle now randomizes the list.

Shuffle now will jumble the Playing, like Randomize did in MediaMonkey 5. The ability to have random playback from an ordered list (traditional shuffle) has been lost.

Thanks, understood now - I thought it was a bug, but if you toggle the Shuffle button on and off you can see the playing order changing.

Can't honestly say I like it though - part of the joy of Shuffle is NOT knowing what's coming next! Plus, if it's now "Randomize", why is the button still called Shuffle?
