Audio on Android phone is MAXED out

Post by Shakadula5153 »

So I was sitting with about 235gig used on my 256 Gig Motorola Razr+. MM5 music used a boatload of that data.

Then I ran a script to concatenate the 4 digit year to the Title column. Worked great.

Then I start synching my playlists to my phone and.......Long story short, I ran up to 255 gig after synching about 30 playlists. My calculations only added about 108,000 bytes. So I added (7012) ......6 additional bytes per title. Nowhere near 10 or 15 gig. Can't figure this out.

So I thought about deleting MM on my phone along with the data and start from scratch but I wanted to check if anyone has encountered this issue before. My source library is a little less than 160 gig. It will take me about 6 hours to synch all playlists.

Here is the script I used to concatenate the date to the title.

UPDATE Songs
SET SongTitle = SongTitle || ' (' || substr(CAST(Year AS TEXT), 1, 4) || ')'
WHERE rowid IN (
SELECT rowid
FROM Songs
WHERE Year IS NOT NULL
AND length(CAST(Year AS TEXT)) >= 4
AND SongTitle NOT LIKE '% (' || substr(CAST(Year AS TEXT), 1, 4) || ')');

Thanks........

Which Build (Help > About) of MMW are you using and how exactly are you syncing?

2024.2.0.3163.

I synch one playlist at a time. So I click on the playlist, right click to pull up a menu and then Send To Motorola Razr. Usually works great.

Trying to synch all playlists does not work for me. I should mention I deleted 80 gig of playlists but it did not change my storage usage.

This method will just copy the selected files, instead of an actual Sync that will update files, removed unselected files and copy any new files. Please do an Auto-Sync.

My Post got deleted? Android Space Issue

Post by Shakadula5153 »

After executing a script to concatenate date to title, I synched a bunch of my playlists that were already on my phone and I ran out of space on my phone. I added 108,000 bytes so that should not have eaten up my space. It was suggested to use autosync to synch all playlists but i am still out of space and it wants another 25gig. This is crazy. Do I remove MM from my phone and start over.?

In addition, Most of my playlists now are missing tracks. Just one or two but none the less my playlists are boogered up after the autosync. .

Okay I don't know how or why but when I use WI-FI Synch from my android device instead of USB; It not only synched ALL of my playlists but it got every track in every playlists and was FAST FAST FAST!

Not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth but Audio file is still maxed out yet MM did synch all playlists with no issues.

Hi,
It is not correct that if you sync only playlists (with exception of Available tracks playlist) should request to re sync whole/most library just in order to sync playlists.

The best course would be to use phone file manager and delete already synced files with MediaMonkey, which will cleanup needed space and allow you to sync tracks and playlists again.

HINT: You can check device profile what will be synced and estimate how much space it would take on device.

HINT 2: Music and other collection do not need to be selected (not even partially selected) if you sync only some/most playlists (My preferred method) as that will give you full control on what will be synced and maintained on your device bu MMW.

Wi-Fi sync is also preferred sync mode for all except maybe doing first sync of 100GB, but that is even questionable as on WI-Fi 6/7 connection transfer speed is in many cases same or even faster than USB 2.0 transfer.

You may want to check the Delete settings in the Device Profile.

By default MediaMonkey won't delete files no longer in the MMW Library from the device on Sync. You may need to set to do this once to clean things up. Do verify the delete list before allowing files to be deleted by Sync.
