all my various artists are titled e.g.
muse - starlight
red hot chili peppers - under the bridge
and so on with their artist and album artist as "various artists" I am looking for a script to keep the title as it, but copy the "muse" and "red hot chili peppers" and place it as "muse" or "red hot chili peppers" in the artist column.... anyone help me????? please =)
Copy artist from title "artist-title" to artist?
If your files are actually named is such a fashion, then you can use Auto-Tag from Filename (Alt-T) and enter a file mask such as:
<skip>/<artist> - <title>
Otherwise there is a script called "Split Artist Title" which is designed for this. I think it is included with the default MM installation, but if not you should be able to search on these forums for it.

If you have numbers in front, are you able to use a mask like the following?
<track#> <artist> - <title>
OR
If the current tags are correct in content, just not in placement, then you can auto-organise the files so that the filenames are now consistent and then you can use the "auto-tag from filename" option. (Yeah, yeah... I know it's roundabout
)
Is there a reason the "Split artist title" script won't help?

Sorry... SplitArtistTitle isn't a default script like I initially thought, but was written by Trixmoto (he's written so many it's hard to keep track!
)

You'll find a lot of useful scripts at Trixmoto's Website.
