No, I don't think so. First, both are fetching their time via ntp. Second, if they had different times, the effect that ALL files are synched must happen always (or at least always when the times drifted enough). However, this problem occurs ONLY every six months at the first sync after DST begins (in March) or ends (in October).
I'm saying maybe one updates to DST sooner than the other with the new time -- so perhaps for some unspecified amount of time (e.g. until you reboot) the servers time is in the future compared to the PC.
I synched my music with MM three days after time switched back from DST to normal time. My music server fetches time from the internet every 5 minutes and the Windows computer is rebooted every day. So there was enough time to bring them in sync again (if they really were out of sync).

Actually we aren't changing to DST (in the US), we're changing back to normal time on Sunday. We're on DST now.
time still changes and he said it did it when he changed in the spring and when he just changed again. so its bound to be happening here if the trouble is with mediamonkey.

I too am plagued by this bug. I synced both my Zen players on Friday, however when I syned them on Sunday all the tracks were set to re-sync to the player. There should not have been more than 50 tracks that needed to be re-synced in that short time frame.

The latest beta version.

I've just tested this with my iPod mini 2g and iPhone (since both were synced before the time change, and now syncing after the time change on Nov 1) but both synced normally.

Perhaps this problem only occurs if the music files and the database or the installed MM program are stored on different computers? At least this is the case in my installation.

okay dip it is time for a manual debug report from you, go to the debug post instructions in the debug forum
and get the 3rd party debug view program and set it up and make a debug report of your system when you move things around and see if there is anything that is messing with the time and dates of your songs, when you access them on the external hd's. that is the only thing i can think of to do so rusty and the others can find your problem and get it fixed.

I will do that this evening, but since I usually have no synch problems I fear that we have to wait another six months until the same problem will reappear and can be tracked down by debugging. Or do you have any idea how switching to/from DST can be simulated?
nynaevelan, do you have your music files also stored on a network disk or on your local disk?

That is not the case with mine, all are on the same computer. But maybe it has something to do with the fact that we are using a generic plugin, me the WDM one and you the USB one. As a test I just re-synced my external drive which is the first sync since Thursday and it is doing the same thing and even worse it is deleting the tracks from my backup drive.
EDIT: I killed the process but I will try to run a debug when I restart it and see if that will track down the issue.

My son just synched his ipod using the standard ipod plugin and as far as he told me on the phone also all files were synched. I will try to catch the ipod of my daughter this night and synch with debug on. I don't know if she has already synched since DST has ended so we will see what happens.

Ok:
I ran the debug log on just one genre, prior to running the sync I checked to make sure all the tracks were there and they had the same timestamps using my SyncbackSE software. I ran the sync and MM deleted all the tracks along with the directory and gave me this error:
Debug log can be downloaded from
here.

DST aside, what business does MM auto-sync have deleting these tracks at all? Perhaps you have "[X] Delete Tracks that aren't on the Auto-Sync list from the device" but surely these tracks are still on the Auto-Sync list??

Yes I have that set because of the other directories that are on the device and I could not get MM to ignore all those other directories. And yes I agree with you 1000000%, they should not be deleted, especially since they are the tracks that are in the sync.

Nyn, that sounds like a reason to have it UNset, not set.

Did this deletion occur only since the DST change?
