Backup 6.0 - Updated 01/07/2014
@Macarena - I attempted to do this (save the last 5) and it was incredibly flakey. I might have another go at some point, but generally it needs to assume to much which just isn't stable enough.
@Music_Cat - Yes, if you uncheck the overwrite mode the only a fresh backup will be done in an empty folder. This is a safety option, I would expect almost everyone would want it to be ticked.
@mfstout - Thanks!

I love this feature, thank you. One slight problem, it doesn't create the folder if it doesn't exist or fill it when it exists.trixmoto wrote:New version (4.7) is now available to download from my website. Changes include...

It definitely does for me!
What's the other path you are trying to use?

These are my two paths:
It works with the second path, but not the first. This is my laptop, I normally use the date feature but am away from home now so not sure if there is a problem on my desktop.

EDIT: Am I missing the point of this feature? Should it be creating a secondary backup in another location or just a folder??
Code: Select all
W:\Music\Music Library\MediaMonkey\Backup\MM3\Portable1\<M><D><Y>\Code: Select all
W:\Music\Music Library\MediaMonkey\Backup\MM3\Portable\<M><D><Y>\Nyn

What I think the "extra folder" option is is the ability to backup an additional folder, not create a second folder for your backups (in addition to scripts, skins, plugins).nynaevelan wrote:These are my two paths:

Well in that case it is doing what it is supposed to. Trixmoto, any chance you would consider the option to save to two locations at once?bob61 wrote:What I think the "extra folder" option is is the ability to backup an additional folder, not create a second folder for your backups (in addition to scripts, skins, plugins).nynaevelan wrote:These are my two paths:

Ah, sorry for the confusion. Why would you want to create two identical backups at the same time?

I am well aware how simple it would be, I have been doing it for some time now.Vyper wrote:Not even regular backup programs do that. At least not that I know of. Would be simple enough to make a backup, change the location and make another though.
Nyn
EDIT: Vyper, sorry to appear snappish, that was not my intent. BTW, I prefer to have at least two copies of the same backup because I tend to make changes in my DB that I do not like and always forget to turn off the backup so it ends up overwriting my good copy. With two copies I can save myself from my own screwups!!

I prefer having two backups in case there is ever a problem with a hardware failure or if I am in the process of testing a new script and I forget to change the backup to a secondary location, then if I need to reinstall the backup I have a clean copy. If it's not possible, don't worry about it, I can always keep doing as I have been.trixmoto wrote:Ah, sorry for the confusion. Why would you want to create two identical backups at the same time?

EDIT: Trixmoto, no need to make any adjustments. I just created a duplicate copy of the script and now I can set one up for one location and the second up for another location.
