It does not matter if it's the firm- or hardware that's causing the synchronization errors, the error exists on any new iPod no matter which firm- or hardware.

And yes, if it was the firmware, someone could write a new one and solve all our problems. But who should do this? Look at the up-to-dateness of the iPod software from the Rockbox project und it is sad but crystal clear that we cannot expect a solution from this point of view.

Our only hope is a synchronization process that is capable of adjusting to the new database, and jiri (amongst other) obviously is working on this for MediaMonkey.

Hmm, the discussion about hard- and firmware seems to stop, but maybe a new discourse begins, if apple, microsoft or whoever is the worst company in the world

I didn't want to get this thread into that unorthodox direction.

I just want to mention to check the new ipod driver (ha! again a wording for some discussions ) for the mediamonkey also with the newest firmware update for the ipods (which could certainly contain a modified cryptographic algorithm)...

At the moment, there is no firmware for the new iPods that provide the player with a different cryptographic algorithm. Or as Highlander would say "there is only one"...

Of course, sir! Just an anomaly that my iPod had 1.0.0 when delivered two weeks ago and I was told about the firmware update to 1.0.1 by apple...

@Michael Vogel: There's no difference between cryptographic algorithms of the firmware 1.0.0 and 1.0.1. So Tankred is right!

It's been cracked by that DLL plugin. my 160gb ipod now has 2500 songs on and syncs perfectly????!!!

Oh dear. I appear to have spoken too soon. I just added another CD to my MM library and it doesn't appear to notice the new addition and won't sync. Even when I select the album and tell it to send to the ipod it is not having it....

I can't wait til this one gets working 100%...Keep up the good work.

No you don't. Unless you want to sync videos, pictures and all the other crap that you can only get at iTunes. I think you also need iTunes for upgrades but mine came with the latest firmware.

Can I just confirm that I received a new iPod Classic 80GB a couple of days ago and all works well with MM3 beta 3.

As with one of the previous users, MM has hung on me a couple of times, but this may have had more to do with the fact that the software is a beta version, and nothing to do with the iPod itself.

God I'm so grateful not be using Itunes. If only the album art problem could be solved. On the whole it works but is not 100% reliable...

I'm also having problems using MM and iTunes at the same time. When I transfer videos with iTunes and then rebuild the device database in MM it messes up the video filenames.

Is there any workaround or solution to this problem? Is it possible to let MM for instance ignore all mp4 files so it doesn't affect them?
