Exception access violation for ASIO dll M-Audio legacy driver

Ever since I discovered the Otachan plugin to allow me to use my M-Audio soundcard's ASIO dll file (MAudioDeltaAsio.dll), I have never managed to solve this recurring issue. It randomly throws an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error to do with MAudioDeltaAsio.dll being used within MediaMonkeyEngine.exe

It happens when I go to play a new or already preloaded into playlist track. It can be any manner of situations where I go to play, and sometimes it happens during the track being played already and just stops but very rarely. Usually it happens when I double click or press play. Doesn't matter if something is playing already or not it appears to be completely random.
It is more likely to happen when I have been using lots of other unrelated PC functions.
It can happen again immediately after restarting the whole machine not just MM, but not always this sometimes fixes it. It is less likely to happen again immediately if I change the output plugin to something else, play, and then revert to MAudioDeltaAsio.dll and play again but sometimes even this doesn't temporarily fix it.

It has been ongoing for at least two months, possible up to six I can't remember precisely when I started using it the Otachan plugin.

It provides by far the best sound I have ever heard using MediaMonkey. Hence why I just keep soldiering on with it and restarting when necessary. It really is far far superior to anything else. Shortly before using this I discovered the WASAPI exclusive mode which had a slightly different issue, although it was more reliable it sounded too shouty and harsh in comparison. Besides it was problematic and unstable anyway with entirely different issues. Although, that was the best sound I had heard by far until finding the Otachan plugin.

I have sent countless debug reports but this is the first time I have reached out about this issue.

I would love to work with you to solve this as the sound is such a dream until the access vialoation happens. Nothing compares it is other worldly levels of awesome!

I am even willing to work on altering the driver or anything I can possibly do to make this work properly.

Please help!

Using MM build MediaMonkey 2024.1.0.3103
PC is an old Toshiba designed for Windows 7 using Windows 10 and the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI soundcard. Let me know what other details you wish me to provide! I can easily make the issue happen again as well for another bug report if needed.

Just sent yet another bug report in last thirty minutes reference 2AB30000.

Hi,
Try solutions we discussed at viewtopic.php?p=522044#p522044 and like I pointed in my other replies in Topic you should contact developer for help.

Hey, Peke!

Thank I will test this and see how it goes :) :D

Is there any way to save my preferences for this plugin as they do not save when I exit MM?

I previously created a file in text editor called "plugin" and saved it in the plugins folder fo MM. It had the following in the text document:

[ASIO output (dll version)]
Device=2
ThreadPriority=3
BufferSize=0
ShiftChannels=0
GaplessMode=0
Convert1chTo2ch=0
DirectInputMonitor=0
Resampling_Enable=0
Resampling_ThreadPriority=2
Resampling_SampleRate=88200
Resampling_Quality=3

which resulted in the maudio device (apparently it's number 2)being selected and all other options as I wanted them

Just thought I should specify that I meant to say I previously added the config file for the other previous ersion of the Otachan plugin.

Added text doc with the following:

Code: Select all

[ASIO output (dll version)]
Device=2
ThreadPriority=3
BufferSize=0
ShiftChannels=0
GaplessMode=0
Convert1chTo2ch=0
DirectInputMonitor=0
Resampling_Enable=0
Resampling_ThreadPriority=2
Resampling_SampleRate=88200
Resampling_Quality=3

This screenshot is the resulting settings from that text doc config file I added into the plugins folder:

I wanted to give an update and say a big thank you also.

With the exception of some "oddities" I am now able to listen to my library flawlessly and with the highest fidelity audio I have ever heard out of this system of mine which I've had about twenty years.

Two things:

Gapless mode now works flawlessly with albums that have special transitions done by the DJ...for many years I have had to put up with gaps, or skipping the precisely mixed deliberate gaps between unique and skillful DJ mixed tracks. It now works, however! unfortunaley if the playlist holds tracks with differing sample rates then when the transition happens it makes it hang and either loop a half second of silence, or instead of silence, half second of the previous track's ending (depending on the samples rate increasing or decreasing respectively). I like the fact that it doesn't fully crash MM and I can just press play or double click and it will play normally without issues from there (until another sample rate change with track transtion or changing setting off gapless).

The second thing is the settings, (which a simple change of the settings will solve the first issue but) as mentioned on my previous post I was having issues there. I could not save my settings for the zeropint Otachan ASIO plugin.
I have found a workaround with help from the other post you linked previously within this thread.
I installed Winamp, and can use that to change the zeropoint version of this Otachan plugin. Alternatively you can create a .ini file called " out_asio " (I.E. notepad text file saved as out_asio.ini) in the %AppData% folder in a sub folder called " Winamp " (Winamp does this automatically) with the following information you can adjust (although my recommendation would be to just install and use Winamp to do it for you):

[ASIO output (zeropoint) cfgv6]

Code: Select all

MotuMode=0
Device=2
ThreadPriority=3
BufferSize=0
GaplessMode=0
Convert1chTo2ch=0
Resampling_Enable=0
SRDoubler_Enable=0
SRDoubler_Prefer=0
SRDoubler_96k=0
Resampling_ThreadPriority=2
Resampling_SampleRate=88200
Resampling_Quality=2
Resampling_According=0
StartEarly=0
StartupDelay=6300
DeviceName=M-Audio Delta ASIO
CM_0_InCh=0
CM_0_OutCh=0
CM_0_OutName=Analog Out 1/2 L Delta-AP
CM_1_InCh=1
CM_1_OutCh=1
CM_1_OutName=Analog Out 1/2 R Delta-AP
CM_2_InCh=2
CM_2_OutCh=2
CM_2_OutName=SPDIF Out L Delta-AP
CM_3_InCh=3
CM_3_OutCh=3
CM_3_OutName=SPDIF Out R Delta-AP

The following screenshot is the resulting settings I have from that ini file

Personally I have a shortcut to this file and will exit MM, edit the file to show 1 instead of 0 for gapless mode=
Then when I reopen MM I am ready to listen to a mix album with flawless transtions, then I will reverse the proces to go back to normal listening.

I have now tested this extensivley with MM 2024.1.0.3103 first debug and now the regular version and for nearly two weeks or since my last post here. It works flawlessly no matter what I am doing with my PC, or what I change and PC has even been updated and MM is still working beautfully flawlessly with this ASIO plugin. Excellent. What a joy.

My eternal gratitude goes to Peke and the MM team, zeropoint and Otachan. I am for the first time in my life hearing my library in amazing high fidelity and with all the beautful organisation and functionality of the MediaMonkey program, which I love to bits!! Please keep up the good work.

Cheers, take it easy :D 🤙 I'm going to go enjoy some music🤙 🤙 🤙

Only thing I can say to these kind words is, THANK YOU. This why MM exists and drive us to go forward.
