Double-clicking between columns changes sort

MM 3/RC-2: If you place you cursor between column headings in the library (the node doesn't seem to matter), you get a vertical line with arrows on either side. This indicates that you can re-size the column by dragging left or right. In most Windows programs, double-clicking when this icon appears sets the column width to match the contents. However, in MM 3/RC-2, it changes the sort order of the library using that column. Not what I had in mind. It also doesn't appear to set the column width to fit the contents.

I didn't realise that double clicking those double arrows auto sets the column width. Since I don't change ths column widths in MM very often it doesn't worry me. I have been using MM for a couple of years without knowing, so alls well here

I believe that there is no secondary action for double clicking, and double clicking just changes the sort order twice.
I too would like to see this implemented, although its not really a bug/problem (as far as I know because i cannot recall ever seeing this in MM at all) so maybe it'd be better off in the Wishlist section.

I would suggest that the current behavior is not correct. By definition, the vertical line/double arrow icon appears only when you are between columns. Since you are double-clicking between columns, it's unpredictable whether MM chooses to sort by the column to left or right of the icon.
MM ignores single-clicking when the icon is visible. If MM is not going to automatically resize the column to fit the contents, then it should ignore double-clicking as well.

As far as I know, it is consistent with previous versions, therefor I would say it is correct.

I didn't realize there was a definition

From what I can tell, its impossible (if not EXTREMELY difficult) to get the mouse directly between two columns equally. And if you are not equally between them, one column or the other will be (or should be -- maybe this is skin related) highlighted until you get into the range of the next column and the first stops being highlighted.

I fully agree.
My first reply stating that:

is wrong in that there is no single click action and double click acts as a single sort. Ive known that this, as well as more than a few other programs behave this way and I tend to not use double-click to resize out of habit.

Yeah, not liking the sort when I have the vertical "resize" icon. It needs to act like other Windows Programs & change the width.
