MM volume VS radio volume

Hello,

When music is playing in the car, there is a very big difference between the music volume from the radio and the one from my phone (via Bluetooth). The radio is much louder, it makes me jump when I forget to turn the volume down after listening to the music in my phone! I have the same "softness" problem with my headset: when the music comes from MM, I reach the volume limit of the headset long before the music gets too loud for my ears. If I switched from MM to radio while wearing the headset, it would smash my eardrums because of the difference between the two volumes.

I don't know the standards for volume levelling, I just noticed that my music is not loud enough when coming from MediaMonkey. All my music is levelled at 93. Should I level it at 95? 96? More?

Note: The phone volume is always at its maximum...

Thank you for you advices!

95dB is the maximum recommend. You can get extra boost by raising equalizer levels in MMA.

Thank you! I will not increase more than 95 dB, then. I hope it will be enough to reach the same volume as the radio.

So, I increased the volume level to 95dB. Well... it is better, but still not quite enough to match the radio! And boosting with the equalizer gives a sound I don't like at all.

What would happen if I raised up the volume level a little bit again?

I noticed that on my computer, when my music plays from an other player than MediaMonkey (BeaTunes, for instance), the music is also louder than MM, why?

Thank you for your answers and advices!

You can try a higher value, but above 95dB it's common to get artifacts introduced.

Wouldn't necessarily solve the issue seeing as you're having it with you headset too, but have you check the options of your radio? I don't know if all head units have an option for it, but mine has an option to change the auxiliaries volume -- mine allows to raise it by up to 6db which is still lower than CDs play but is pretty comparable to my radio playback.
