the registry might be messed with by some other program that changes the color scheme. do you have any games on the computer that change screen and colors for its use.? like maybe an old dos game,
some of the dot net games also change color and size of the screen. those might be making the system mess up, one other program is a tweaking program called pc pitstop that one will mess up the power scheme so its possible it is messing up the color scheme too. if you have any of those type of system optimizing programs you might want to revert back to the original settings before you used it and then remove that porgram and test the skin color again.
i had to take out that pc pitstop program because it locked up several features it should not have had anything to do with.
i just spent 4 hours on the other computer removing a program that would not update i had to delete all its files and clean the registry 3 or 4 times to get the hotkey out that would make it look for a hard drive that was not in the computer.
then i had to reinstall that program with its new version. on that same computer i spent 18 hours getting updates for the av program as it was messed up in the registry by something also, so the registy being messed up by something can and does cause strange errors.
which is why i keep saying to get a program that works on your op system to clean and defragment your registry.
you said aero skin. sounds like monkey is not set to use the aero skin of vista, or its a registy error.
if you removed mediamonkey before did you do a registy cleaning afterwards? did you clean your page file, your prefetch file, and your other junk files out. do you still have system restore files in from before you uninstalled mediamonkey.
get the ccleaner slim no tool bar. its free on majorgeeks.com and use its tools to remove all the old system restore files
on your system. i save the latest 3 or 4 of them to make sure nothing is messed up and can't be undone.
one of the only other things i can think of that will mess with programs in windows computers is if you remove any of the other microsoft programs like iexplorer, it is not to mess with anything but they still have it linked to other programs by
way of the other programs needing a file that is only in the iexplorer. and if you don't have the latest updates for all the
microsoft programs that too can cause issues to happen at the strangest places.
well maybe if you updated or upgraded from mm 2.5.998 to mm 3 that might have left some file in vista still thinking its mm 2. ?
but the fact it is vista can be the issue its self. i know you seen and heard it before, but microsoft really did announce on the television news that they had decided to release win 7 earlier then they wanted. because they could not fix vista and was stopping development on vista. so if they can't fix it theres little anyone else might have a chance at fixing it too.
