That would be odd, that it worked before when playing from Explorer with MediaMonkey and that now it doesn't. Which version of MediaMonkey and Windows? Can Windows Media Player play the files?

I did try that before posting. (Glad to hear that my troubleshooting instincts are ok!) Earlier in the day that did work for one .mp3 file, but later it never worked. All my files are .mp3s.

Does the file play if you open it from Explorer with MediaMonkey? If not, what file type(s) fail?

Thanks Lowlander. (I did search before posting, but didn't come across that article.) I've checked all of the situations outlined in that article, and none apply to my setup. Any other thoughts?

MMW doesn't play music, like it can't find it

by captainmcl » Sun Dec 02, 2018 7:01 pm

I open MMW and it scans roughly 15,000 files. I go to a genre or playlist and hit Play, and it starts going through each song, pausing for a second before turning it gray and moving on to the next song without playing anything. I was playing music earlier, and nothing significant has changed in my setup. I ran "Locate" but that did not help. I have seen this before -- turning the song gray without playing it -- but I thought it was only when the file itself had been moved or deleted. How can I fix this? Thanks.
