I am starting to get used to the new board, but the delay between the postings on the board and when the email notifications are sent is RIDICULOUS. It is taking over 15 minutes between the post and the notification, why the delays??

Amen.
Been away from the forum for a bit, see how it feels when I try to catch up this weekend.
First thing I noticed was that my old password was no longer valid. No big. The get new password function worked fine.

4-5 times I was logged out before I could post a message :(

This is the only forum I have this problem with. It sure would be nice if someone would fix it.

  • Does Anyone know why media monkey's forum is the only forum that i go to online or the only web pages online that will fill up the IE, cache and then crash the forum kicking you out of the forum.? it is getting really bad when i have to use the old analogx maxmem ram cleaner to clear the cache and it still might not keep monkey from crashing the forum.

but i've only been on line to this forum all morning and when i got to the point of having to open the ram cleaner it was showing my entire mb's of ram was filled. when in normal use online it never gets up to 3/4's filled. so it has to be something with monkey's forum,?

test it out if you want to find if it is doing it on your system.
come in the forum read all the posts by never clicking on the back page button just click on the next button, then also post replys and new messages, with time you should see the reactions of your system bogg down and could have it lock and toss you out of the forum.

that happens to me way to much lately so if you can test and see if it is on your system that will be helpful to the devleopers to finaly fix this cr...p.
okay that was my previous message i just reposted it in this new message no need to post after it since i was the last one to post i just thought to keep it in one post,

but i think i have found one clue to this messing up.
over the last 3 weeks each time this mess up has happend it has been at the same time someone else has logged in,or the same time some one else clicks to reply or read the same post i was trying to reply to. so it seems the forum is crashing out when two different computers want to recive the same post or forum form, at the same time. (most the time it happens with me and nohitter151 since we both read the forum at the same time and have been very close with posting times for replys on lots of occasions.) not that either is causing it just that we both are reading and thinking the same post answers alot.

but that is just to show that it is what has made me realize its not accepting the click on the buttons when they are at the same time from two different locations. now if that is not possible in programming then i suggest it just might have been left out of the book cause it happens a lot to me and it is always when other members click the post buttons at the same time. not only nohitter151, but has happened with spacefish and trixmoto, and peke, and morten and most other members, wheather or not they have noticed the reason i do not know.
and wheather or not they get kicked out of the forum when it happens i can't say for all of them,
but spacefish has been kicked out the same time as me before and they have came back in the forum to one of these forum error threads, and posted just a minute or two before i got back in and came to the thread to post, and when going back to the thread to re reply i see spacefish has posted at the same time i was kicked out.
so that is one member that was done the same way i was, at the same time i was.
but once in 3 weeks to 3 months is all i can say for that result of the error.

it reminds me of the high mem error in dos when two programs try to use the same memblock it crashs the programs.

hope that can help you find the cause and get it fixed. 8)

Perhaps, but I'm pretty sure the problem happens when I have no additional MM forum tabs open. Maybe it happens more often the other way but I know that I've entered the forum, looked at one post, and within less than a couple minutes (however long it took to view the post) tried to look at another only to have the forum tell me there were no more new posts. It's like someone on the other side reset my session while I was reading the first new post. I generally don't have more than one tab open per session anyway unless someone has linked to another thread on this board and I click on it.

I think that is the problem.

The other tabs still have the expired login information so if firefox rereads them (instead of the current tab) it logs you out again resetting the posts since last visit.

Does anyone actually log out? I never (need to) login. I suppose the forum "logs me out" at some point and when I refresh the window it "logs me back in" but I never actually do this myself.

This maybe reproduceable.

Using firefox 2.0.0.14

Log into the forum

Open some posts in new tabs

let the original tab session expire

login using the original tab

changing forums/topics should log you out

close the other tabs opened during the previous session

login using the original tab
won't log you out.

I got logged out 3 times tonight. Very frustrating!

Ditto. Have been seeing them for the last while.

"phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database"

Whats the bet that a few of us have our sessions reset? :(

Not exactly a "huge" font :(
thats your internet settings on your computer you have it set to ignore web page's settings and show your own settings.

but if you set it to show web site over your settings. then all the web site fonts get tiny. and you will need to view the pages bigger in order to see them. then some of the other pages will have huge fonts that need to be viewed smaller to see them. this is thanks to ms changing something in the browsers and making all the websites for small fonts.
thanks to them we can't have nice looking different sized fonts on our sites, they seem to think we are all clueless in how to view websites. :x
