The problem is that MediaMonkey identifies location by a unique hard drive ID. So, regardless of what letter your drive is identified as by Windows (D, E, G, whatever) MediaMonkey will be looking for that hard drive ID:

LaptopDB -> ExtHD
HomeDB -> HomeHD

I would also have liked some solution to keep two databases/hard drives in sync.

I used to drag the music back and forth with me on an external drive, but now I leave the music on my office PC, which I always leave on, and then remote desktop into it to listen to music at home. That doesn't help you, though...

MediaMonkey with 2 hard drives, one duplicated db file

Hello,

I would really like to listen to my music in 2 different ways :

At work with :
MM installed on my laptop
My mp3s on my external hard drive
The db file on the external hard drive

At home with
MM installed on my fixed PC
My mp3s on an internal hard drive
The db file on the internal hard drive

You will tell me that I can listen to my music from the external hard drive when I'm at home but when my wife is at home and I'm at work with my external hard drive, I want my wife to be able to listen to music, that's why the mp3 database has to be duplicated.
So basically I want to edit my database always on the external hard drive : like add mp3s, edit tags, moods... so this will modify both the mp3s organisation and also the db file (with the moods...)
So the mp3s and db file on the external hard drive will always be one step ahead of the mp3s and the db file on the internal hard drive.

I use a backup software to back-up the root folder that contains all the mp3s from the external hard drive to the internal hard drive. I also back up the db file. The issue is that all the files are greyed when I open MM on the fixed PC because the paths defined in the db files are wrong (MM is looking on the files on the external hard drive that is not even plugged!).

Could there be a script that modify only the mp3 path information of the db file. For instance you take the db file of the external hard drive, all the paths start by G/Audio/..... and you want to have the same db file except from the paths which should be D/Audio...

Thanks a lot in advance for your support!

Fabrice
