Hi,
It was my pleasure. I guessed it was something like that. Years ago I had months of pain in the ... to find right sound card that would allocate internal Sound on QNAP NAS which I then connected to 100V AMP in one bigger shopping mall to play music. It was nice to finally see that using browser you can make playlists and schedule track playback. MM was played part of managing all the files on NAS. It was really fine setup in the end (wonder if it still works as I have not been there for at least 5 years).

hi
thank you Peke
i use MM4 on windows (XP then 7 then 8 then 10) to play music from my NAS, it over the years has been reliable in accessing the server(s) whereas windows networking has become worse (unnecessary security rubbish on secure home network). I have over a TB of music (flac mainly) and make use of the MM4 output plugins to send music via usb to a dac and the dac would indicate the sampling rate, so i knew(assumed) that flac was being sent through unchanged. (not sure at which stage the pcm stream is removed from the flac container). The main purpose of this was essentially to avoid the soundcard of the computer having anything to do with the music.

I now use also MMA to access (via wifi) and send the files (via usb OTG) to the dac but the dac wasn't indicating a different sample rate when I did this with the phone. I have played around and found that the dac, when connected to windows, had uploaded a driver which it reacted with but on the phone it plays the flac file at the right sample rate but cant give the sample rate. It wasn't specifically made for android.

btw you did help

Hi,
I checked my Moto X4 dev options and android is strict on BT Audio quality, where you can select various quality from lossy to almost lossless. For USB Audio only option I have found that you can enable/disable USB audio routing which implies that data is sent in bitstream unchanged (Tested only with Tascam US 2x2 where output was 24/96).

Unfortunately I do not have DAC that has SPDIF connected to Amp to confirm it.

I hope I helped.

[SOLVED] MMA usb output to DAC

I have been an MM Gold user for many years but didnt know about MMA. It solved a number problems I was having trying to use other apps.
I have MMA on Samsung A20 phone and by WiFi play FLAC files residing on my NAS.
The audio is output via USB port on phone to a DAC to amp etc. It works perfectly.
The FLAC files are both 16 or 24 bit and the sampling frequency is from 44,1 to 192 kHz they all play perfectly.
(To be honest I find it difficult to tell the difference between CD quality and higher resolutions)

I would like to know if MMA simply sends the FLAC file through untouched or it is processed by the Android OS in some manner.
I am curious, is all. Thank you.
