Having Bonjour installed or not, or the Bonjour service running or not, has no effect on the issue. The only thing that seems to make a difference is whether or not the Wifi adapter has the highest metric priority.
Even when MM5 cannot find the JBL Playlist when the Wifi adapter doesn't have the highest metric priority, the ZeroConfigService browser from https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software ... owser.html can find the JBL Playlist using mDNS.

Are you saying Chromecast uses Bonjour as well which is an Apple technology? Because I found advice disabling it:
Do you have the Bonjour service installed?

Disabling the Bonjour service (if installed) may help find your Chromecast device. You will need to change the Bonjour service properties so that it's startup type is set to 'disabled' and then reboot the machine.

Bonjour is installed by some Apple apps (e.g. iTunes), more information about its uses can be found here: https://support.apple.com/HT2250

MM support helped to identify that the problem occurs due to the Microsoft Hyper-v virtual ethernet adapter on my system. With this adapter enabled MM5 doesn't discover the devices through mDNS on the local network. By disabling the Hyper-v adapter, or by giving it a lower priority by manually setting the IP4 metrics (reboot required), MM5 now finds all my googlecast-enabled devices. In all cases DNS-SD.exe -B _googlecast._tcp from a command prompt is able to find all devices, so it seems a MM5-specific issue. At least there is a workaround for now and hopefully MM team will fix their mDNS discovery implementation or use Bonjour for device discovery.

Thanks Lowlander. I took the log and opened a support ticket.

Try to capture a debug log (step 4b): https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 30&t=86643

1) Start DBGView
2) Start MediaMonkey
3) Wait 2 minutes
4) Click the Play To button in the Player
5) Wait 2 minutes
6) Save log and attach it to a Support Ticket.

I'm using MediaMonkey 5.0.0.2259 Beta. My laptop with MM5 and the JBL Playlist are on the same Wifi network, connected to the same AP. Wifi client isolation is not enabled. The Chrome browser on my laptop sees the JBL Playlist as a Chromecast receiver, but MM5 does not. From my Android phone on the same Wifi network, using VLC, I see the MM5 server, and from VLC I can cast music from MM5 server to the JBL Playlist. Just from within MM5 the cast function doesn't see the JBL Playlist.

A big disadvantage by initiating the cast through my phone is that Flac gets converted to Mp3 first, even though both my phone and the JBL Playlist support Flac.

Is it on the same network? Sometimes the wifi network can be separate from the wired network.

Can your phone see the MediaMonkey Media Server (Tools > Options > Media Sharing to enable in MM5)? Which build of MM5 are you using?

JBL Playlist device missing for casting [#14645]

Hi,
I'd like to cast to my JBL Playlist using Chromecast, but it is not shown as a device when I click the cast button. I only see the Chromecast dongles on my network (which have video). In the Chrome browser it is shown and I can cast audio, as well as from my Android phone.
Any hints?
