Just raising this issue again, as its is preventing effective use of MM5 and having to use MM4 to do the searches/updates

Cannot search for album/title/artist info for Non Wikipedia entries for:

"Albums" (Buy Randy Crawford) ie https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Cra ... iscography
Miss Randy Crawford
Everything Must Change
Now We May Begin
etc

As there is no search for "Titles"

It is not possible to identify the album a song may have been on, or default in wikipedia to the Artist ie
Soon as I Touched Him https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everything_Must_Change
Last Dance at Danceland https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Cra ... iscography

As there is no search for Artist

I is not possible to search for Albums or Artist
Randy Crawford https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Cra ... iscography

Yes, but your getting lost in the specifics, the point is without the lookup you cannot query ie. a direct query to either the Artist, or to the Album, or to the Track as Barry4679 wrote
In MM4:
#1: from any view or sub-node I could use the context menu GetInfo|Wikipedia, against any track
#2: and MM4 would create a targeted Wikipedia query, depending upon what tag you clicked ... ie. a direct query to either the Artist, or to the Album, or to the Track ... etc
In MM5:
#1.a the access is only available from the artist or the album detail page ... it has disappeared from the right click context menu at the track level, and from all the other views
#1.b and it is not direct ... I have to wait for MM5 to scrap and then summarise info from the Wikipedia page, just so that I can see|press the Continue Reading button, which then redoes the Internet lookup
#2 and it is not as specific ... ie. I just get the page for the Artist, or for the the Album ... ie. no direct lookup of the track ... example The Blind Owl compilation album by Alan Wilson (ex of Canned Heat) contains the track "Going Up the Country" ... MM4 will take me directly to the track ... but in MM5 I can't get there ... MM5 takes me to the artist, but I can't get to the entry for the track unless i know the album where it was originally released
#3 and it doesn't work as robustly as MM4 ... eg. MM5 provides no Wikipedia entry for the album Lost in Sound by Yusef Lateef, so I am stranded with nowhere to go, ie. no "continue reading" button, no lookup Wikipedia menu item, no nothing ... but MM4 takes me directly to here

I think that what he is saying is MM5 access to Wikipedia data is less direct, and less specific.

Exactly!

Exactly! and its even worse for Various Artist albums, were I don't think MM5 works at all (as I cant work it out) ie
Now That's What I Call Music ..
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Now_That% ... Call_Music!
1995 Grammy Nominees
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Nominees#1995

And in the longer version of my post (I accidently deleted)
Singles are completely lost in MM5 were as in MM4 it is possible to search in Wikipedia specifically for a single/track NOT ALBUM RELATED (in my library the ALBUM field is designated as SINGLE, as it is not linked to any specific ALBUM, as it has no ALBUM) ie 7" Single Angel (Eurythmics song) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_(Eurythmics_song)

Hi,
OK I must confess that I lost you in the middle of your MSG. Maybe I am dumbed up but an you please break it up in few steps and possible image to see what you compare and where you jump/change views. If I am guessing correctly there is something we missed and can't be sure what.

MM5 uses hybrid version of Wiki/MusicBrainz/Fingerprinting/Google and other to get so so accurate info. So I now wonder where it was lost. And what your exact steps you use to correct tags.

Re: Show links in File List MM5

MM4 "links" (wikipedia) was useful to go STRAIGHT to the artist/album/track(title)/album artist, via links (to validate and for other reasons, tracks genre etc etc)
MM5 Browser view in MM5 only shows Wiki Artist info - hot link to "Continue reading at Wiki" links to Artist, then it takes some digging to get to album and tracks -
MM5 online - I haven't looked at this yet or figured it out (looks like youtube links), but is still does not provide the details information above
I admired MM as a library/database management tool and was always impressed with it over ALL other music management tools, I am now having concerns that its beginning to be dumbed up.
I am presently having to correct tags in MM4 using links and re read the corrected tags/library by rescaning into MM5, I thought it was that I had not found the link function in MM5 but it would not appear to be incorporated!
Also the auto look up does not work effectively 100% and I have sent many hours correcting the mess it made in MM4 it having used it once

Hi,
Browser views in MM5 automatically lookup additional info on album, artist, ... and you have Online Tab to see if you miss anything. Also in Album View you can click on ⋮ to search for alternatives.

If you find any other Sources that you find useful let us know and we can check if their API is free and usable in MM5+

Show links in File List MM5 [#16884]

by pip_pill » Thu Aug 06, 2020 9:31 am

Is it planned that the MM4 functionality "Show links in File List" will be in MM5?

ie MM4 Options/Appearance - selections - Show links in File List

I scoured MM5 for the function but couldn't find it...

I was very useful ie to go to wikipedia (if the option was selected) for information that "autotaging" couldn't find
or look up specific information of a song or album or artist etc

I have searched around the forum but didn't find any questions or answers on this functionality.
