hi all

the beta works on my Itouch 32 G running ituens 9.2 and OS 4.

however, I just noticed that every freakin of the 12 CD's that I downloaded via Itunes now has screwy album art...

all of the 280 plus CD's that I put on my Itouch via MM is perfect...

oh how I hate I-tunes, let me count the ways..

HINT: Always use Prefix instead of Suffix when renaming files. Eg. "old.d_iphone.dll" instead of "d_iphone old.dll" and there should no be problems.

MaFt - It certainly is appreciated! You'll see plenty of me on these forums trying to help (though I'm usually not much help).

I think most people try to help when they can, but I definitely know what you mean.
Thanks again!

well, we got there eventually!

strikes me as a little bit selfish though that once a problem is solved for one person they generally don't care about helping with others' problems... been lots of 'hooray, it works' and 'thanks' but not so many (well, none, other then mine?!) giving info about database sizes etc to try fix what could have been a big issue for everyone!

perhaps it's just me... my company has a very active forum and i'm on there helping people most of every day :\ (even at 1am!!)

MaFt - that is exactly what I needed, Thanks!!

It seems that everything is adding up correctly now then:
I have 2486 songs - taking up around 9GB (all auto-converted down to 128kbps)
I have 1158 albums - b/c most of my music on the phone is from playlists instead of full albums (more art work)
That works out according to your numbers:
1.5MB x 1158 = 1737MB (1.7GB)

Sorry to dwell on this, just thought it seemed that it was way out of hand. Guess I was wrong, I'll put this problem to rest.
Thanks
BP

back on page 2 i mentioned that my
artwork folder is now about 150mb (on 4gb music)
for a bit more info, this 4gb is from an auto-playlist of random albums limited to 4000mb. just had a quick count and there are 106 albums (6 without cover art) and iphone settings tells me there are 1,234 songs.

so each album is adding about 1.5mb to the artwork folder.

i don;t know if this helps at all, but as jiri mentioned that the artwork is 'per album' i thought it would make more sense to tell you how many albums / artwork i had rather than just file size!

Good point! I have learned that lesson the hard-way. Luckily I have MM files backed up on several diff. computers.

I guess I do backup these files myself (including DB & settings), but to another location with a naming convention to stayed organized. Though, the original iPhone.dll that comes with the latest stable download of MM is the only device file I am usually concerned about (when/if MM crashes to the point that it is unusable, I revert back to stable release).

Has anyone had a chance to review the size of their art folder yet??

Happy testing!

i would assume so that if things didn't work out, or if the new dll caused MM to crash, he could at least revert easily to the 'official' dll?

the first rule of updating anything in alpha/beta: BACK UP!!!

Auto-Synced to iPhone 4 iOS 4.0 - Using updated dll from this thread. Synced perfectly, including artwork. THANK YOU!!!

Not to be nosey, but why are you keeping the older instance of the .dll? I'd just delete it, or save over top whenever jiri releases updates. (Or just move the old one to a place to backup - maybe with the date of release to keep track).

Either way, happy it seems to be working for you.

When you finish syncing, can you let me know how much space the album art is taking up? I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks

Thanks wd - your suggestion seems to have sorted it! I had renamed the old file to iPhone(old).dll, though MM was still reading it and inserting it into the tree. I moved that file to a separate folder and now only one instance of the iPhone appears. Also, the artwork seems to be transferring correctly so far!

I've done both full syncs and added an album here and there with success (though I still have the large album art folder issue described above)

Dan- is it possible that you have (2) instances of the iPhone.dll in your plugins folder? I am not sure, but it is worth a check. It could also explain why (2) iPhones are showing in the MM tree.

Just a thought.

Also, if either of you have a large collection on the phone (or really any size), can see how much space the Artwork Folder is taking up on the phone in relation to how many tracks you have? (You can download "iPhone Browser" for free if you do not have a program that allows you to see the contents of your phone). - I'd appreciate it

Did you do a full sync or just add some more albums using 'send to...'?

I've always found with MM that artwork can be messed up when only adding albums and not doing a full remove and sync.

It may be a bug that the devs need to look at? I've not had this on my i4 and adding single albums after a full sync has been fine.

I had posted recently that music and album art were syncing OK to my iPhone - but it doesn't seem to be the case!

I have an iPhone 4 with OS4.0 and MM 3.2.2.1298. I had transferred one or two albums, and had seen the artwork on my iPhone. So I spent about an hour transferring other albums. When I took a look at the iPhone later, all the albums were there, and the music played fine, but there was no artwork at all! Including the 2 covers which I had checked initially!

Any ideas?

Should I be deleting the Artwork.DB file?
Thx
