Uninstalled new version, reverted to 3.2.

My 80 gig ipod shows up only in the device list. And when I tell MM to sync it, MM immediately crashes.
Always worked flawlessly in MM 3.

I took the following (drastic) measures to temporarily fix this issue, since 1461 does not rectify the crash:

1. Uninstall 1461 & do a full install of 1450.
2. Rebuild Database & Playlists.
3. Restore my iPod using iTunes.
4. Rebuild the iPod on 1450.
5. Play a track & then let MM 4.1450 scan the iPod.
6. Run Add/Remove Playstat to update the track.
7. Eject.

No problems, but I don't want to keep using an unstable beta. I have also updated the Bug report, but have not heard anything from the team. Any chance of getting this looked at?

Thanks.

Ticket ROV-871880 submitted today.

iPod Crashes post-MM4 synch

by martialartsguy » Tue Nov 29, 2011 11:59 am

Here's the lowdown:

1. I had no problems with the below using pre-1459 betas.
2. I plug in my iPod & let MM4 scan
3. I synch, then manually eject using MM4
4. Once my iPod loads, I go into either "Music" or even "Playlists" and the iPod fails & restarts.

I'm using a 160gb iPod Classic (latest version), and the 1459 MM4. This happens consistently. I've tried the following to fix the issue:

1. Restored the iPod using iTunes
2. Updated iTunes to the latest, then restored again

Once I do a restore of my iPod, this issue doesn't happen; only when I synch after listening to some tunes & following steps 2-4 above does the iPod crash.

(Sorry for the dupe post, mods, but no love over on the Bug Forum).

Final note:

I installed the latest version of iTunes, restored the iPod and re-synched. Still getting these crashes. Any help? I'm about to ditch MM4 for the beta that didn't do this...either that or iTunes. :(

I did a full Restore on the iPod, then re-syched it. No problems.

However, once I went back in, scanned & re-syched my plays, ejected through MM4, I still get a crash. Anyone?

Yup, I don't have any auto-conversion set up except what's default.

Anyone have some help ideas? I moved from MM3 to MM4 beta just to avoid this issue, as I've had to return 2 iPods to place of purchase for this same reason. I'd hate to have to go to iTunes (I'm an MM lifer!).

I figured out my problem, it was my fault. The auto conversion needs to be set to M4A rather than AAC.
martialartsguy probably has a different problem.

I am running into the same problem. My iPod Classic 80GB crashes/reboots when trying to play any song after syncing with MM4.

Yesterday, after installing MM4 and the Codec Pack for the first time, I reformatted my iPod Classic.
Then I synced, which automatically converts FLAC to AAC. The song names and album art show up fine on the iPod, but nothing will play. If I try to move the song position forward from 0:00, the iPod crashes.

iPod crashes after synching with MM4

Here's the deal:

1. I plug in my iPod Classic 160gb (latest version).
2. The iPod scans.
3. I run Add/Remove Playstat to update my track plays.
4. I synch my iPod & eject.
5. I press "Music" then "Playlists" on the iPod
6. The iPod essentially crashes & the Apple logo shows & the iPod restarts.

Anyone else having this problem? This has happened to me twice today.
