Yes, setup is the same in MediaMonkey 2024.

You can't put the Playing under/above the Filelisting in the middle panel in MediaMonkey 5/2024.

Thank you for the immediate response. I will work my way through the documentation to set things up. In MM4 I was able to establish multiple servers, each addressing different content. Does 2024 allow the same flexibility?

Second, unrelated question, in MM4 my layout has 4 horizontal bands - column filter, selected content, player file list having column headings of my choice and, finally, a copy of the player with customized control items. I got there by modifying a user's skin. I still have a left-side column, with graphic window and tree selection choices. Is it possible to create this format in 2024? It looks like only 3 bands are possible, leaving the file list ready to be played squised in a small vertical column.

MediaMonkey 2024 also has DLNA servers like MediaMonkey 4.

More than 10 years of use but now I get this error, so it no longer works. I know MM 2024 backs up automagically, but I am still using 4x for its DLNA servers.

any clues. I blindly followed instructions to register a couple of dll's, but it hasn't helped. Is this just to old to bother with?

Only 1 program can be associated with the mmip extension. In this case on your system it's MediaMonkey 5. Both MediaMonkey 4 and 5 use mmip as the extension for Addons.

Yes when I try to install. I will see if your suggestion does it. Typically, I have just clicked on the .mmip and Backup6 has installed itself. I have reinstalled it several times over the years to fix crazy behavior. Right now Backup6 is working again. Thanks for your help.

Do you mean when you try to install? If so install from Tools > Extension in MM4.

Backup 6.0 Now Calls MMW5?

by plain » Sun Nov 13, 2022 3:49 pm

Okay when MMW5 came out I installed it to my C: drive in parallel to MMW4.
For a couple of years now I have been able to back both MMW's through their separate backup routines but now that I finally "upgraded" MMW4 to 4.1.31.1919, every time I try to use Backup 6.0 it calls MMW5.
If I try to reinstall Backup from the mmip file the mmip file calls MMW5 as well. This only started after the most recent upgrade of MMW4.
Any ideas? Also since it may be that MMW5 actually integrates Backup 6.0 can I just rely on that to keep a backup for both progs?

Thanks.

The other option was to leave it installed and turn off "Auto backup on shutdown". It's never worked well for me.
In fact, I don't use any of the auto backup settings. It still works well manually for me though.

Thanks Lowlander! That worked.

Seems like I had looked for it there previously and didn't see it listed anywhere? Must have missed it as it was certainly there just now and disappeared after using the 'Uninstall' button!

Try Tools > Extensions to see if you can uninstall from there.

I think I have this script installed from many years ago and it stopped working a few years ago. I hadn't used it much as anyway as I had other backups so really did not need it.

Dumb question, but can someone tell me how to remove this script so it no longer runs when closing MM4? I should know this, but I haven't done anything with MM scrips for a very long time...

Thanks!

Hi Scott_135,

When you run Backup 6.0, the dialogue box will show you the files you can choose to "Backup" and their source location. It will also allow you to choose where to put the backup - the Output Path - and the name of the backup if you want to compress the files into one ZIP.

You have two options:
1). Manually copy the MM.DB file from the Backup Location to the C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey. Personally, I would rename the MM.DB to something like MM.OLD before copying the backup version.

2). Run the restore script. In which case, the script will ask you to confirm the Windows User Directory (or provide an alternative) and Media Monkey directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\ ).

This applies to MMW4 only. MMW5 has a limited backup functionality under the main menu - File / Manage Database / Backup / Backup Database Now.
