Thanks, understood.

In this scenario it synchronizes (creates a copy on the device) the selected files according to the settings in the Device Profile (Tools > Options > something with portable/audio sync). This includes settings such as location and auto-conversion.

Note that you're using a really outdated version of MediaMonkey. Even version 3 had a newer release (3.2.5).
I haven't the confidence to use synchronize until I know exactly what it does!

Lowlander: I was unable to reproduce this on another attempt! Puzzling.

BTW, what if anything is the distinction between these two menu choices?

Selected the Playlist then all the files then right-clicked and via the menus:

How did you copy to the drive?

Just saw this thread as I was about to post a similar query. I have a USB memory stick as drive F: so that I can copy some music tracks and a few playlists to it. But these files copied to F: from my my automatic playlist '1960s' have now duplicated those in that playlist.

Despite that earlier reply, I still don't see why these are getting added to my library, as they are not specified in my settings. Why does that scan option override the main settings?

Tools > Options > Portable Device Sync

Select drive and then configure

Uncheck box for: Scan as soon as the device is connected

MM Auto scan multiple drives

MM is doing something that it's never done before. I set my default location for music a long, long time ago and I've always had an external drive connected to my pc. However, it's never scanned and tried to add from that location. How can I stop this? Right now, the only way I could stop it was to disconnect my external drive. I don't want this location scanned because it's a backup location for my music library. Also, I have some podcasts deleted from my permanent collection that I have stored on my external drive and I don't want them added back. I looked through all of the options and I can't find an option to exclude this drive from the scan. Did I miss something?
