FYI.
The session ended with error code 2155.
The reason is unknown and currently unfixable on the MMA side.

With 1210 it is running more stable again.
Now when starting casting in MMA the phone instantly shows a sticky notification for "shared controls". This notification did not show up instantly in the past. But VLC app shows the same behaviour when starting streaming.

I've made some improvements that may fix this issue in 2.0.1.1210.

Over the time this thread went away from it's main topic "casting issues after renderer switch".

And @Peke is right... My current casting issues seem to be a result of power policy restrictions.

We already faced this issue within this topic here - see posts of February. And is was fixed in April.
Now I am seeing these problems again.

We could rename this topic to "general casting issues" or so.

I can't replicate myself, but have seen devices that enforce power policy and lower bandwidth so that casting/streaming starts to stutter and/or even stop. We will see what Logs will show.

Thanks for the reports! We'll look into them next week (some of the team is on holidays).

btw, does the break occur soon after switching? i.e. assuming the switch goes smoothly initially, will casting work as expected?
