Re: Indexed Browsing?

Sorry Lowlander, I should have said that it is a function of 'The MediaMonkey UPnP/DLNA server', and is mentioned in the V4.1 release notes (see News-> MediaMonkey 4.1 released).

I don't use a server, but am considering making a change.

Indexed Browsing?

Introduced in 4.1 I believe: can anyone tell me what this is, and how, or why, I may use it?

Re: How do I get a listing to sort on 4 fields?

I'm sorry for not replying earlier, but I have been rather busy with other stuff in the last couple of days. I will post again within the next 36 hours.
Regards to you both.

Re: How do I get a listing to sort on 4 fields?

The problem I have seems to be associated with having multiple fields/columns and also having, or needing, to display the Artwork and the Summary fields/columns. There is, as one can see in the database diagram, a basic connection between Album and Album-Artist and when that combination is displayed...

Re: How do I get a listing to sort on 4 fields?

Hello Lowlander, thanks for the reply. I have finally got around to playing with the de-selection or removal of files in combination with additions, and it seems to work better than in v3. Thus I may well be able to avoid the occasional use of 'clear database' that I had to resort to when using v3. ...

Re: How do I get a listing to sort on 4 fields?

Hello MMFrLife, and thank you for the reply. 1. If you are referring to the process of using the mouse and 'clicking' with the left-button on a listing's column header to sort on it, and then using Ctrl+Left-Click to add more columns to the sort, then, yes, that is what I have done. I have not found...

How do I get a listing to sort on 4 fields?

I want to sort a file/music list on 4 levels at the same time: 1) Composer; 2) Genre; 3) Album; 4) Album Artist. That is, I wish to have the 4 items 'nested': Composer ...........Genre ..................Album .........................Album Artist I thought I was able to do this in MM3 but cannot get...

Re: REQ #10381: "Album Artist" in addtion to "Artist"

This, sorting by 'Album Artist', is of paramount interest to me; without it I am completely uninterested in MM on Android. I should add that I would also like to see filters and libraries come along some time after the initial release as well, even though that will probably take some work (just what...

Restoring the Tree Nodes at re-start

Is it possible to have the Tree panel saved at shut-down and restored when starting up again? Basically I just want things as they were when I shut down, with one or more nodes expanded, to still be there the next time that I use MM.

I think this question applies to MM3 and MM4.

Re: Can MM run OK on a netbook?

OK, I've tried MM4 free edition; I really dislike it and will not be looking at it again, at least not for a year or two. Of course I was using the free version and thus did not have the 'Collections' support, but without them the sorting (and remembering the sorts) is awful. God knows what Ventis a...

Re: Can MM run OK on a netbook?
Perhaps your filter rules exclude the tracks from being shown. I've never lost files from my Library.
Well, sort of Lowlander... ... the album did indeed not show up because of the filter, as the genre fields didn't match; this was because they were empty! Now you will hav...

Re: Can MM run OK on a netbook?

Just about to shut down - thought I'd listen to a track or two first - guess what - MM has just 'dropped' an album from the library/database. Nothing changed with the files, but I had been playing with the Views and Filters to see if I could get things looking better. MM plays the files fine, but po...

Re: Can MM run OK on a netbook?

It's very late so I'll be very brief... MaximusPrime: thank you very much for replying; that was exactly the information I wanted. Maybe next year I will try a similar netbook as a dedicated music server for the hi-fi system; it is certainly worth some consideration. nohitter151: there are a number ...

Re: Can MM run OK on a netbook?

'You can try the free version and even install it in portable mode so it does not affect your MM3 installation in any way.' No nohitter151, I can't. As far as I can tell from the less than clear 'upgrade' instructions, the 'collections' options are only available on the Gold version, and thus I seem...

Re: Can MM run OK on a netbook?

Thanks to all of you for the replies, they have been useful. MaximusPrime, can I ask you what the spec is of your notebook (especially the processor single or dual, and what speed)? In addition, what level of MM are you on? Your profile says MM4, but do you use that on the netbook? I am truly sorry ...
