Re: Mediamonkey 5?

Honestly, I understand the appeal of paying as little as possible as a consumer. I want to make my money stretch as far as it can just the same as anyone else. Ventis has been very good in stretching the value of the MM4 license to last so long. Maybe the MM5 license will last even longer, or maybe ...

Re: Mediamonkey 5?

The difference being that the companies that I support and have invested in by buying their products don't take close to a decade to release their new version, and once they announce a new version they don't take even over a year to get that out. I suppose we have different expectations on what is ...

Re: What IS 'trashbox', anyway?

Are you using network storage? Buffalo NAS devices seem to call their recycle bin a trashbox.

Re: Auto-organize and copying files question

I'm not sure, but your MM database might think that the tracks you used Auto-Organize to copy to a drive that you will be giving to a friend are now found on that drive and be unable to find the originals without using the lost files functionality. Auto-organize has the option to either move the fi...

Re: Auto-organize and copying files question

In auto-organize, when you select 'Copy files to new destination based on file tags' you then get a check box at the bottom of the window that says 'Add copied files to the library'. If that box is checked then the newly created files are added to your library in addition to the original files. In e...

Re: Playlist recovery, installed a new hard drive

Only if you still have a backup of your database from the old hard drive. Playlists are stored using the database ID of each track rather than file path. This means that the playlist still works if files are moved within MM (e.g. by auto organise) or if you use 'locate missing files'. It also means ...

Re: Recently Added Content

I would actually like to see the idea go a bit further and allow the user to drag playlists into the order they want, with an option to automatically sort alphabetically. Then I could have all my podcast playlists together and all my TV playlists together without requiring a parent-child relationship.

Re: Recently Added Content

I mean it could not be done with the current playlist tree and would require recoding the way the tree works. They could easily add a single line of code to sort the playlists Z to A, but that would affect all of your playlists and not just the playlists which are children of 'Recently Added Content...

Re: Recently Added Content

It's not an autoplaylist You are correct. I was thinking of the default 'Recently Added' autoplaylist, but 'Recently Added Content' is a set of normal playlists created when you add files to your library. That option creates a separate playlist for each import action and files added a minute apart ...

Re: Recently Added Content

It's an autoplaylist so the sort order is set in the autoplaylist criteria.

Go to 'Edit Autoplaylist' then the 'Advanced' tab.
Under 'Sort order' change Added 'A..Z' to 'Z..A' and it will sort newest to oldest.

Re: Puzzling case of the reverting semicolons

The forward slash is the required separator for the ID3v2.3 tag standard, so whatever character you choose as the separator within MM it will always be written to the ID3v2.3 tag as a forward slash. ID3v2.4 changed the multi value separator to a 'null' character to fix the problems caused by using t...

1882 (regression): 'Played# less than' does not work [#15262]

In MMW build 1882 if an autoplaylist has a criterion Played# < or <= a number then that criterion is ignored. Setting it to Played# =, >, or >= all work as expected.

I guess it's related to the fix for disc# SQL error noted here: https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=15262

Re: After transferring library, the "added" date is lost

Is the old computer still intact? You could copy the database from the old computer to the new build so you keep all the original added dates then used ZvezdanD's Update Location of Files in Database script to update the database with the new file locations. Information on the database location can ...

Re: Mp3 TAG Editing with MMA

MMA doesn't have any tag editing capabilities yet. If you sync with MMW then MMW writes the tags and sends the changed file back to MMA.
