He absolutely right about that. First of all, don't confuse metadata like genre with usage data like play count. Metadata needs to be saved with the track, otherwise maintaining and transfering it would be a nightmare. The metadata is fairly stable, usage data updates constantly. Backup programs sho...

It only scanned about 285 out of over 6600 when I first started it up. Then I cleared the library and it only scaned one album... which alphabetically is the third artist's first album. (c:\music\artist\album). Note, this is selecting c:\music and then unclicking two sub-directories. When I speciall...

There are many, many requests on the list. Daily several are added. The feature that is requested here is probably a feature for a few people (not many people will go ahead and rerip) so it's probably not high on the todo list. One of the reasons that not many people will go ahead and rerip is how ...

I went through my library and got the album art for almost all of it. But on the ipod, less than a third of them are displaying the art. How do I need to save it in MM for it to work with the ipod? Right now, I saved most of them in the album directory. Do I need I need to save them in the file itse...

I've been using 3.0 beta and it's a toss up whether the album has the individual track artists or not already entered. It just depends on who submitted the information and what tools they were using. If they are there, it's really easy and it's all done for you. Sometimes they're entered as part of ...

You can set the Album Artist to be anything, as long as it's the same thing for each track in the album. For example, For The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration for Bob Dylan, you can set the Album Artist to Bob Dylan and each track with the actual performer. I've found that it's easiest to put th...

iTunes lets you tag tracks so they don't get included in shuffles. With that feature you could create a genre or playlists for your holiday music and specifically random that one when it's appropiate and they would get ignored the rest of the time. I would like to add some Old Time Radio shows to my...

Bug - losing custom field info
Verion 3.0.0.1026. I'm using the first custom field, which I labelled source. I saved some album art into the album folders as folder.jpg. Then used track property / Visual / Add. Selected the image with the apply to all tracks option checked. The data in the custom1 field is wiped out from just the...

I just looked that up using MP3Tag (http://www.mp3tag.de), which has an Extedended Tag viewer which displays every tag on a given track. It's called BAND. MP3Tag also let's you add custom Conversion Actions, in which you could set that to a hard coded value or extract a value from other tags.

I was thinking about what you said... that only if the artist and the album artist is the same are they edited in unison. Maybe the compramise fix is that only when all the tracks have the same artist, the album artist would be edited as well. That way, it would never split up an album as a side-eff...

I estimate one third of my library is multi-artist. And while you are technically correct to say a majority are single artist, we're still talking hundreds here. Examples of the vice-versa when tracks of the same album have been split up into several albums and you are trying to recombine them: If y...
