Re: Multiple Ratinges

Until the feature is added, one option is to use two of the custom fields to deal with the different ratings. Set one custom field for your song rating and the other for your wife's. Then you can separate the songs by the use of auto playlists and/or collections, and use these to sync the appropriat...

Re: How many **rated** tracks do you have?

I use ratings for two purposes: - To indicate which songs that I want loaded on my player - To indicate which songs are my favorites I manually rate my songs using the following scale: - 5 stars: A favorite - 3 stars: A song/podcast I want on my player I also use the "Unknown" rating to indicate whi...

Customized File Properties Screen

At present, the file property information is scattered among six tabs on one screen. Often, this makes it necessary to repeatedly move from tab to tab when updating/viewing information on files. Recommendation: The addition of one tab in the file properties screen. Unlike the other pre-configured ta...

Re: FLAC vs M4A

Anamon wrote the following as part of a post: If you want your files in lossless quality, it is up to you what you decide to do. I keep everything in FLAC since it has always been an open format (that is also supported by my portable player), while ALAC is used practically only by Apple products. Co...

Individually Customized Podcast Syncing [#9635]

At present, when syncing your player you have the option of selecting which podcasts you want to have automatically synced to your player and how many episodes of each podcast you want loaded on your player (such as one most recent episode). A limitation is that the number of episodes and what type ...

Re: 320 or FLAC?

I've started re-ripping my library to FLAC. That way I don't have to re-rip and re-tag them again if I decide to go from, as an example, a LAME MP3 encoded at 320kpbs CBR to one encoded at V0 VBR. From there, I make duplicates that are converted as needed for loading on my player (at this time it's ...

Re: Read and write as many custom fields as needed?

Sony's Media Go program has a feature that might be adapted to MediaMonkey to provide a version of this function. One of the fields in the audio properties is called "Tags." Unlike other fields when tagging files, this one is a free-form field that can contain a large number of individual entries (s...

Re: Possible to "Never Play" zero star ratings?

I was going to suggest something similar to Lowlander: make autoplaylists that exclude tracks rated zero stars, and use those to play the music on your computer. I do something similar when managing the music on my player, only tracks rated two stars or higher are loaded on my player. I also have a ...

Re: MP3 Player recommendation

Solitaire001, are you able to create and manage playlists in MediaMonkey for the NWZ-E465? If so, does it require any special maneuvers? I apologize for not responding sooner. I am able to easily create and manage playlists on my NWZ-E465 by syncing my player. When I set up my player in MediaMonkey...

Re: Compilation albums

What I've done for compilation albums is set the Album Artist to "Various Artists" for the entire album while leaving the "Artist" as the specific artist for that song. I've found that this works very well, and provides me with more flexibility that iTunes "Compilation" checkbox.

Re: MP3 Player recommendation

I have a Sony Walkman (NWZ-E465, 16GB Flash player) that works well with MediaMonkey (MM). MM has many features that allow it to work well with my player including: - Automatic file conversion during syncing: Walkman players have a few requirements when it comes to file formats. As an example, it su...

Re: Full CD or just the good ones

I keep all of the songs in my library, including duplicates. In some cases, the same song appears on many albums. That way, I have access to every song whether or not I ever listen to it. To give those songs that I don't choose to put on my player, I have a playlist that loads a small randomly selec...
