Re: How to play 192khz? MM Settings only to 96khz

AFAIK, control panel lists only the sample rates supported by the Audio Device, (for instance, with the Realtek integrated on many mother boards, you have no 88.2 and 176.4 KHz option). Are you sure the manufacturer claims 192 KHz support? I think the Wasapi driver read the sample rates enabled in C...

Maybe you have not enableb 192 KHz in Control Panel/Audio? (properties, supported formats tab)

What about copying the CD to an USB drive using another PC?

.dff (SACD) compatibily

As you probably know, recently it has been discovered a trick to ripp the hi-res layer of SACDs (using a Sony PS3 with custom fimware); this way you get a DSD file (.dff extension) that may be converted in Wave/Flac, (using Korg Audiogate or Weiss Saracon), converted on-the-fly in PCM by an input pl...

Re: WASAPI Exclusive mode tweak

Okay maybe the problem is that once programs have been kicked from the device their shared mode accesses isn't restored after the device is released from exclusive mode. I can't confirm that push mode releases the device when playback is stopped but I can confirm that after closing MM the problem p...

Re: WASAPI Exclusive mode tweak

On my systems MM holds the device even when stopped, with WASAPI exclusive and event mode checked (default). With push mode MM holds the device when paused and release it when stopped. For the record, JRiver works exactly in the same way; Foobar, AFAIK, has only push mode, so it holds the device whe...

Re: WASAPI Exclusive mode tweak

Well, this is the way WASAPI exclusive is supposed to work. :) By the way, the difference listening with WASAPI exclusive is very small, to really appreciate the difference you have to use an external DAC connected to a hi-end audio system; if you use only files ripped from CD (i.e. 16 bit- 44.1 KHz...

Re: Summary format syntax language

Thanks for the quick reply, nohitter151, but for sure I'm missing something :D What about $if and $if($viewmode=3,$if($groupcount=1 I see in the default setting? May I just cancel them? Those are only necessary if you want the summary to be different depending on the number of files in the grouping...

Re: Summary format syntax language

Well, I wanted to ask the same question of the OP, but the replies do not help me; let's try in a different way. :D I'm not a programmer, I cannot write scritps etc., and I'm too old and busy to start learning to. I tried to modifie the fields in Playback rules/Art view to meet my needs, but with po...

Re: A question for the design geniuses hereabouts

P.S. By the way, WASAPI output is meant for serious audiophiles, people looking for the best possible sound from a PC connected to a hi-end audio system. The goal is a "bit-perfect" output; i.e.: the DAC receives the digital data without any modification by the program or the windows volume mixer. N...

Re: A question for the design geniuses hereabouts

Hi, I never tested your sound card, but according to the manufacturer FAQ, at the very end of http://www.cantatis.co.uk/index.php?pag=cms&id=131&p=questions.html , WASAPI is is NOT supported: Note that as the Overture 192 audio driver is a highly reliable and well tested WDM driver it does not suppo...

Re: A question for the design geniuses hereabouts

First of all, Amarra is a Mac OS.X player, not for Windows. Amarra solve a problem with iTunes, which cannot work in exclusive mode ("hog mode" for Mac users) and cannot automatically switch the sample rate according to the file. Period. If you manually change the sample rate in MIDI/Audio setting a...

iPhone and MM automatic start

I'm sure it is a FAQ, but I couldn't find a thread on this matter... I have an iPhone and I use it just as a phone and internet terminal, i.e.: I don't use it for music, so I don't need/want to sinc with MM. My problem is when I connect the iPhone to my PC MM starts automatically; how may I stop MM ...
