Grey files can happen when they require a different plugin or a are no longer in the location MediaMonkey has stored in the database.
When songs are no longer available you can use the Files to Edit > Dead Links node and delete all songs listed here.

Make sure you get the latest (2.5.5) version of MediaMonkey. Also please tell us your environment. Do you have files located on the network? If so make sure you use the UNC path to the network instead of a mapped drive. As for locating/deleting duplicates there are are 2 duplicate nodes in the Files...

Do not delete the standard list of genre's. You can delete any unused genre's with an ID of above 10000 by opening My Music/MediaMonkey/MediaMonkey.mdb with MS Access, but don't delete/modify the standard genre's. I can only go by what you write: or you are just using task scheulder with pekes script to start media monkey like i am doing.. I still assume it's some script conflict, not necessarily caused by a script by itself. And no I don't know which one could be the cause. But I won't bother you again, sorry.
