It works fine to change ID3 tags. Perhaps you lack permissions to modify the files.

Maybe they are a different file type that you haven't added in the options for MM to scan?

After you update the sort order of the playlist you need to right-click the playlist and choose "Update play order"

You should select the server that you have configured to sync in MEdiaMonkey for Windows.
