Windowshade mode
There's no windowshade mode :-( . The best you can do is 'minimize to now playing' and then shrink the Now Playing window size. Alternatively, you can try the Winamp Advanced Controls plugin at: http://www.niversoft.com/products/nadvctrls-en.html It still has a couple of bugs when used in conjunctio...

Converting file formats on VCD
I don't have any better ideas, but would just remind you that if you do go ahead with this, expect to lose some fidelity in the process of re-encoding into another format.

Playing m4a files
m4a files, are generated by Apples iTunes or Nero. They are MPEG-4 AAC encoded files without Apples DRM (the .m4p format includes the DRM protection). I haven't tried it yet, but there are plugins written for Winamp that enable playback of this file type. Check out: http://www.rarewares.org/aac.html...

atrac
MediaMonkey can't encode into the Atrac format (though you can download an Atrac plugin to play such files).

Encoding artifacts at high bitrates
It's seems clear that the problems are related to encoding. My expectation is that the problem is related to systemic deficiencies to which the LAME encoder is sensitive. e.g. a faulty memory chip/mild chipset problems. You can verify whether this is the case or not by trying to encode the file with...

Re-installing MediaMonkey & preserving critical files
When you uninstall MediaMonkey, the only files that it delete are: 1) Config files & Registry entries (including your registration key) 2) Binaries that were installed by MediaMonkey It doesn't delete your database, and it doesn't delete any plugins that you've installed, thus, it's very safe to...

Multiple nodes for single file
Anyway I still don't see the answer to one of my questions. What is the 'typical' node structure and meaning for a proper library entry. Here is what mine typically looks like: Notice the variation of file types <Artist name> ---<Album name> (contains ape, mp3, ogg) ------All (contains ape, mp3, og...

Synchronizing
Peter,
The only players that synchronize (in the 2.2 release) are those which are USB Mass Storage Devices
We're considering adding support for other devices in upcoming releases, depending on the effort involved and demand for the functionality.

As far as I know, the Winamp plugin doesn't support DRM protected content either ;-(

unwanted folders
This is the .m3u file of what's Now Playing in mm. This should probably be created in the application data folder instead. It's on the to do list for a future release.

Classical music
Tom,
Better support for classical music is on the to do list, probably at the same time as we enable customization of the tree view.
In the meantime, keep the feedback coming, I'm not a classical music buff so I'll be looking to the forums for info about what would be useful for this.

Correctly Synching Multiple Artist Albums
The reason why this happens is because MediaMonkey doesn't 'know' that the multiple artist albums you have are multiple artist albums. e.g. if you have 5 Albums entitled 'Greatest Hits', MM has no way of knowing which tracks are part of which album so it doesn't try to guess. To correct this situati...

too many Album nodes
To elaborate on Peke's response, MM aggregates tracks into a single Album when it finds an Album for which all tracks are by a single Artist. If there are minor differences in how the Artist is spelled, then MM 'thinks' that there are 2 albums with the same Album title by different artists. If this ...

Sound quality with MM
My guess is that it's just a question of choosing the right output plugin, correct equalizer settings, and possibly using a sound-enhancing dsp plugin such as dfx.
Or, if you prefer, just use MediaMonkey with XMPlay or Winamp
