gk : If you follow the link to my other ID3 thread (in my first post), you'll see that Helium, The Godfather and MP3 Tag Clinic all support the TIT1 frame. Of these, I'd say MP3 Tag Clinic should be the easiest to use. Unfortunately, I don't think they have any mechanism to copy tags from one field...

I use the Jammix DSP plugin and it works just fine. The only instance when it causes problems is when I fire up my movie player (BSPlayer) without closing MM first. Since I configured both programs to load a copy of Jammix (with different presets) that's hardly surprising! Give Jammix a try, I can s...

dsavereide: Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, I guess you're right - just ignoring the name of the performer because he /she is not well known *to me* is rather rude. stankovic, Teknojnky: I wasn't aware of this development but I heartily agree with you guys! Vote +1 on this. Jiri: I haven't tried ...

Hey Maaspuck, Just tested your newest version 1.8 and I'm not sure what to think. At first it looked like it didn't work at all, and in fact after running it the SOURCE files I used for testing were slightly corrupted. More precisely, the album art was replaced by a "blank" album art (but ...

Maaspuck, Wow you're really putting some effort into this script. Thank you so much!! Another round of feedback (sorry I only got around to testing it now) - this is using version 1.7: Little things I love (besides the obvious additions): - the script remembers the tags that you specify to copy - is...

Do I understand you correctly - your Venturer is ignoring the <Track #> and simply organizing the files alphabetically by <Title>? Hmmm. I guess what you need would be to convert the numerical <Track #> to an alphabetical listing: a - title 1 b - title 2 ... z - title 26 aa - title 27 AFAIK Media Mo...

I know that for example the Helium Music Manager includes a clever classification scheme for artist names. The way it works is by using an additional field: there is the artist field and a "sort artist" field. Hence, one possible solution I can see - but it would mean a lot of work - is a ...

Glad you appreciated my comments. I'm not much of a coder - scrap that, I'm NOT a coder - but I can be a royal pain-in-the-butt beta tester! By the way, did you see that Risser is working on the same problem with a script of his own? Maybe you two should think about pairing up? You're approach...

Hey Risser , thanks a lot for tackling the tag-transfer problem! I'll be sure to test-drive your script this weekend. If I may say, it seems to me that your script does almost the same as Maaspuck 's CopyTags ". Maybe you two should think about pairing up? You're approaching the same subject fr...

If so, why is the music industry so aggressively "selling" the point that because i download a Celine Dion CD from a torrent, they loose 14.95USD. How can I phrase this delicately... because they are greedy, lazy, unscrupulous, evil ba$tards? It's easier to force the customer to co...

Thanks for the new version, Maaspuck. A very promising development! Essentially it works - it does copy the information - but I found several things that need to be fixed: - the script should not modify the FILENAME (it's really difficult to identify the corresponding file afterwards, specially if t...

The study that the RIAA doesn't want you to know about!

Sebastian78 : check out this post on ars technica. I also have the link to the actual paper but you (or your institution) needs a subscription to access it anyway. Short version: the impact of P2P on music sales is essentially zilch. This was the first study relying on actual download data rather t...

My 2c on this issue (boy did someone open a can of worms): I have long stopped worrying about whether something was "legal" or "illegal" according to retarded copyright laws. Instead, I focus on what I find to be morally acceptable and what isn't. Let's face it, "copyright i...
