Re: Want to organise from a mess

If everything were tagged properly, MM's Auto-organize feature can take care of folders and file names in a jiffy. If the tags are not clean, it won't work, or at least won't work well. You can clean up the tags in MM or look into a program called Tag & rename. Popular though I haven't used it mysel...

Is there a way for MM to generate an album catalog?

I used to have a complete catalog, in Excel, of every album I owned. Unfortunately my hard drive died and the file with it. Now however I have nearly all of my collection in MM, with clean tags, etc. I know MM's report feature will provide data on number of albums, etc., but is there a way to get MM...

Re: AccurateRip with Different Optical Drives

I have one computer with two drives as well, and the second drive will not work. You may want to check the dBpoweramp forum to see if anyone has asked this question there. Perhaps the ripping programs cannot accommodate the different offsets of two different drives on the same install.

Albums disappear during retagging [#8966]

This is a minor point but a somewhat annoying one. I am in the process of retagging many albums. I have tree opened to Classical Music > Album. I select an album and then change its album name. The album then disappears from the list of albums shown under the tree. I have to reclose the tree and reo...

Album Art Change Affects Other Album

Why would changing the album art for one album change the album art for another? The two albums are stored in different folders. For example, I had one set of four discs identified as "Pro Arte Quartet, Disc 1," "Pro Arte Quartet, Disc 2," etc. I clicked on this album and noticed it had the wrong ar...

Re: Random "Access Violation" errors in MM4

I've just started getting the same access violation messages, same format, and it's occurring every time I alter the properties of a track. I take it this is being worked on, given the above? I've never submitted a bug report formally before and I'd rather not go through the process if there's alrea...

AccurateRip result in file properties [#8954]

Could we get the AccurateRip disc ID and result included as part of File Properties > Details? In Windows Explorer I can see this information as part of the file metadata. Thanks for considering, SB

Re: Where do you buy your music?

I buy CD's and SACD's from Amazon primarily, and also from my local FYE, which has a very nice classical section, well stocked by a smart guy. But I am starting to prefer downloads, partly to save space, because almost all the time I prefer to play my music through MM > USB DAC > receiver. Easier to...

Four cheers for MM4!

I am now finally up-to-date with my MM4 installation, in that I have correctly sorted my classical music into the classical music collection, leaving other music in the music collection. It was a bit of a struggle given the size of my library and my unclean genre tagging -- I am nearing the end of m...

Re: MM & FLAC format

You're asking a couple different questions, one of which is "Will I be able to hear the difference between 320 kbps mp3 and FLAC?" The answer is, probably not. In fact 256 kbps is generally indistinguishable from lossless in blind listening tests. There are a few, very rare exceptions, in which some...

Re: Songs by certain artist won't show up in Library, etc.

Perhaps this could be changed so things could be made easier. With a large library, and with many different genre labels that need to be distributed to one collection or another, it's quite tedious to go to each genre, select all, and then change the type on properties. It would be far easier if it...

Re: Songs by certain artist won't show up in Library, etc.

Having conducted a brief experiment, I think I have some answers to my questions above. "Type" is an attribute stored in the MMDB; it is not part of a file's tag. It is assigned based on genre at the time a track is scanned; however, simply changing the file's genre and then rescanning will not caus...

Re: Songs by certain artist won't show up in Library, etc.

Re music vs. classical music -- I posted this in another thread but I just realized it isn't part of this tech support forum. So I'll re-post here. I thought I understood how the music vs. classical music collections worked, but apparently I don't. I thought MM4 determined collection based on genre,...

Re: MM4 rescan still takes over 48 hours to complete

Isn't that the answer though, just to select the now playing list when you are doing a scan to avoid having the scan compete with "reading files"?
